Ok, got my 2 34mm flatsides and I have a couple questions.

 

First, I've heard about how they have a tendency to hit the clutch arm. Which manifold would be best for rasing them up enough for this to not be a problem. I've heard some sit the carb level where others will raise it up a tad, anyone know? I'm currently looking at the Pro Design and Trinity manifolds.

 

Second, these carbs are not together. I have 2 single units. Should I get a lever to connect both chokes or not? What about getting the idle screws set right, just bump them in all the way in and then back them out even amounts so they're the same, that's what I figured on doing.

 

Third, what about mating it up to the airbox. What kind of probs should I expect and what should I be buying/doing to remedy any issues.

 

For most of you that know me know I'm experienced with the single carb and like it, but on the other hand, I know nuttin about aftmkt dual setups. Hell, I have half a mind to sell these two and get another one, but I'm gonna try to make the duals work to see how much better they work for the porting I have.

First I have the Mikuni's as well but I have them on Cheetah cyl's so I'm not sure about clutch clearance. With the Cheetahs they sit way higher than stock, but I did have some pipe clearance problems. I buddy of mine uses the old Mikuni 34mm round slide carbs with stock intakes and 1/2 inch spacers and has lots of clearance, but I'm not sure if they are the same size bowls or not.

 

Second Don't worry about connecting the chokes. You can get a lever but there is lots of room to just reach in and pull the chokes seperatly. As far as setting the idle screws you got it right allready, just turn them all the way in and then adjust them out equally.

 

Third If you want to use an air box UPP makes boots that will fit between the 34mm TM carbs and the stock air box. I think the air box side of the carb is like

2 & 1/4" or somthing like that. I got mine from Alba I think they were $25.00 or $30.00

The Upp intakes don't clear the clutch .they rubs bearly. 3/8 spacer would clear I think. My son as that setup on his duner.

 

it'as all so ported.
