decon Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 keep the airbox and get a pro flow uni air filter, they are better for dirt. they are stage 2 foam filters, and come with a stage 3 wrap for dusty areas (kind of like an outerwear). Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I have the K&N pod filters and I have had them fall of twice while riding the, but I lucked out and noticed both times I wish i would have kept the air box though cause I'm starting o get into MX to Quote
dajogejr Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 Keep the box, get a good pro flo design as said...and use that outerwear. It helps with sand and dust big time. I bought mine with pods on it...wish I still had the air box though. Might fab one up out of aluminum, one day!! Sucks having to be extra careful around puddles, mud, etc.... Quote

Ive had no problems with my K&N filter and airbox adapter in dusty riding. Get this airbox adapter HERE . dajogejer, I have seen a guy make a plexyglass airbox for a 400ex that looked cool, might try that. Quote

Yes...Josh, I'd bet you have to rejet. Probably a size or two leaner on the main, and possibly adjust the airscrew.... Quote
Ducman Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 If you ride in dusty conditions and want to take the air box off use the Uni foam pod filters with foam outerwears. They will get dirty much faster than with the filter in the stock box but are pretty easy to take off and clean. If you ride through deep water keep the box on. K&N pods with outerwears are way better than foam for the sand because the sand doesn't stick to them, but a good oiled foam pod will filter the small dust particles better in dirt. The air flow is pretty close between the two types. A pair of foam Uni filters are only about $25 and K&N with outerwears are about $60+. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 Could always get the Toomey 2 into 1 Foam Filter with outerwear...too. I have it...but can't use it since my T5 Stinger melted it ever so slightly on one side. Have to move and secure that better... It's a nice setup, though...and sits up high under the seat... Quote
05bansh Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 If your never going to ride in wet conditions or in any water then I say yes, get them. I have never had any problems with mine, but mu shee is a dune machine only. Quote
Elka Banshee Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 Does anyone know who makes the waterproof covers so you can run with your airbox lid off? I have seen them before but now i need one and have no clue who makes the covers that just snap on and make box waterproff without rejetting. Quote

I also put some pantie hoes under my outerwears Quote
