FadedDreams Posted April 24, 2005 Report Share Posted April 24, 2005 Only thing i know is don't buy that cheap stuff on Ebay.It comes in a thick sheet and you peel off what you need.I don't know if it was the race fuel of if its just terrible,but it turned to powder.And when i took my silencers apart,there wasn't much left inside. Wallynut Posted April 24, 2005 Report Share Posted April 24, 2005 I believe that the 4strokes use denser pack because there is more force that could blow out the packing on their exhuast stroke. Seen guys try to use 2 stroke packing, just to have it blow out right away. For 2-s, your trying to capture the noise while creating a reinforcement for the pressure wave that the expansions have created. This last part is mostly speckulation on my part. fixitrod Posted April 25, 2005 Report Share Posted April 25, 2005 I have used regular house insulation and it worked pretty good. If you don't keep packing in there it's said that the machine can run flat on top. I believe too after my packing blew out last time. The cap came off and I lost the packing in one cylidner.
