chris642 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 hey, the intake side of my piston skirt broke off in my 99 cr 80 i bought recently. im now stuck with a butt load of aluminum chips and debris in my bottom end. Im wondering what you guys with a similar problem did? i would think putting a water hose too it would rust the inside out since i wont be able to dry it real good. also, why would the skirt just crack off? the bike was running real good all day, had decent compersion and all!! Im slapping myself in the head for not throwing a new piston in there when i got it, not that the engine got damaged, its just annoying!! Thanks! Quote
Bansheeman1121 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I wouldnt take a water hose to it, im just sayin this becuase i have no idea if you do not have the knowledge of taking the bottom end apart, try air but it might blow some of those chips where u dont want em,what i did is took a clean rag stuffed it in the bottom end and turned the motor over a few times and it cleaned a good bit of junk out of there, but the best thing is to take the bottom half apart and clean it out good, gl Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 flip it upside down, balanced on the seat/handle bars, spray brakleen w/both hands, while cranking the motor over by hand and most of the stuff should come out....hopefully anything else will blow out the exhaust when it starts up...I have done this a few times, to avoid splitting the case, and never had a problem...but ...it's your call. I will have lots of time waiting for my nice wiseco piston to come. Quote
