mrandersontheone Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Anyone running elkas with stock rears? I just got some front elkas put on but haven't had the chance to try them out yet. I was wondering if the stock rear shock is decent. Im not an expert rider but want to start jumping the Shee at the local mx track and i want to be sure my setup is gonna be okay. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 I'm running a stock rear with my Elka's, I plan to buy a new rear sometime just haven't done it yet. I used to have problems with my rear shock but I figured out that the rebound was just set too fast felt like I had a pogo stick back there. I've taken pretty decent jumps since I've gotten it adjusted correctly and haven't had any problems. You can have Elka rebuild your rear incase you didn't know, I think it costs about half as much as simply buying a new shock. Quote
FULL_METAL_JACKT_II Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 I Got this SAME setup on my shee with stock A-arms I LUV IT. I'ts AWESOME on the Jumps and corners Tho I didnt know that ELKA would rebuild my Rear Shock 4 me (gona have 2 look into that) Marcus Quote
Banshee17Racing Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Becareful if those elka's are zero preload. It'll feel really off balanced. When I first got my TCS(zero preload) fronts I still had the stock rear shock. Todd told me that it would be unbalanced, so I knew jumping wasn't a great idea. I was messing around anyway just jumping ditch to ditch.... let's just say it doesn't make it very easy. I've got a zero preload stocker rebuilt by TCS, and now shee flys! You might not have a zero preload shock, and in that case I would think you should be fine. But I highly recommend at least rebuilding the rear to match the front. Quote
NYCBanshee7 Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 My friend has Elka's all around, but he is having trouble with his rear. It is leaking oil from its rezzie. Having trouble with there customer service too. So be careful. I am thinking about getting my Stock Rear rebuilt by TCS instead. Quote

Can't really afford a new rear or revalving right now. Quote
mrandersontheone Posted April 26, 2005 Author Report Posted April 26, 2005 Hey Push, are your elkas zero preload? I test rode the Shee with the new springs and you were right. I felt the pogo effect. I guess i'll try adjusting the rebound. Quote

I run elkas on front of both of my bikes. on my honda i had to adjust the compression to get it right where i liked it but they are awesome! Let me know if you need elkas front or rear, Quote
