SICK BOY Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 In NY and Canada you don't have to be registerd to race, but I don't know about other places. Quote
BenBB Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 In general, no; they don't care if you cobbled a V10 motor into a lawnmower frame, as long as ya pay the entry fee (and AMA membership if it's AMA/ATVA sanctioned) they let ya in. Some are more stringent than others on safety requirements (always a good idea; tether kill switch, nerfs, helmet, etc.), and displacement classes (open, 4-choke, etc.). The only exception I've ever seen has been desert racing, since it was on BLM land they mentioned needing current registration and title, but never asked to see it. So if you're racing on public land (cross-country) yes you might need it, if it's on private land (most MX, TT, ST, drags) you prolly won't. Quote
racer Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 take the serial off of the motor to your local dealer. if the dude behind the counter has half a brain he will cross reference the numbers and youll end up with the VIN. Quote

Of course it Never had a title. Quote
Proquad101 Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 I've never been asked to see any of that stuff at a race. I have raced in alot of different states and different events (nationals, ama/atva, local) and never been asked. My frame in powderd coated but I have my vin numbers at home if I really need them.
