sam97 Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 I have been to the Ohio/Michigan line area you guys are talking about. I am just south of Detroit, and it took me a lil over a hour to get there. It is extremely small, just two little trail areas. I usually go on day trips there for like 4-5 hours and come home. I will get the directions from my brother, as he is usually the driver when we go. It is down some small roads, and he had to make directions as it doesn't come up on mapquest. If you go, make sure you have an ORV (I have a michigan one and haven't had to get the Ohio one yet) and are completely legal to ride. The cop is usually there on weekends especially, and will stop you from riding. Anyway, I should have directions sometime over the weekend. I might even go there on Sunday. Later Quote

Later 368815 Is this private owned land? Who has gotten permission to ride there? Do the trails go into Ohio to where I would need one of their ORV stickers? How can a cop try to stop people from riding on private land? I just had to ask because a couple years ago my brother and I went out to a spot in Brighton, where we were riding it was state land but apparently it's not designated for quads...so both of us got to see our quads take a ride to the impound yard on a flatbed...BS!!! So a couple hundered dollars later and a misdeminor now on our records needless to say we are a little more careful of where we ride. Quote

I will try to post them tomorrow night. It is state land, and is specifically for ATVs and dirtbikes. Like I said before, it is kind of small. THe people I know that go there always ride with just Michigan ORV stickers and have yet to have a problem. I was saying that people might get kicked out, because I think you have to be spark arrested and have the ORV stickers. THe DNR cop threw this guy out last year, because his kid (who was riding a little 50cc dirtbike) was too young (like 8 or so). THe guy yelled and said that he had seen the laws, but the cop was just a prick to him. Hope to post tomorrow. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 IMO I wouldnt pay the money to ride the indoor track in tecumseh, its not worth it, too small. Its called Pro Source, have ridden it a couple times. I was up a Dusty D's last weekend too, dajogejr did i see you there? For the MDS pig roast? Dusty is a cool guy and has some nice land to ride on. Had lights for the drag strip and all. Anyways, I am a SE Michigan rider too, so keep posted when you guys plan a ride. I am just North of Detroit myself. 368467 Quite possibly... Well...you can see my shee in my sig. I was there with two guys on 04 red 450Rs. We were at the drag strip 80% of the time. I distinctly remember two of the 4 or 5 shees there. one was blue and strectched out...the other was blue and stock wheel base. I wanna say they both had FMF pipes...but don't quote me on that. I KNOW one of 'em did... My buddy on MDS said one of the shees blew their tranny...hope that wasn't you. Had a good time, planning on going there a gain. Just got back from peacock, MI. Legal ORV trails, and the best I've ridden. Went up with 11 other riders. 4th and 5th gear trails, with a touch of 6th. Wide, sweepers, no twisty tight trails...and, after the rain they had...they were perfect to ride Saturday. No dust!!! I can't wait to go up again... Quote
sam97 Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 Alright fellas, I went to the place in Ohio this morning. It took me roughly an hour and 15 minutes to get there from my house, in the downriver area. Thats doing about 10 over the speed limit, so you could prolly make it faster than I did. THe place is small like I said before, and it was pretty muddy due to all of the rain. My shee was covered. Overall, a lot of whoops and mud. Would have been much better if it was more dry. I will go back again, simply because it makes for a quick trip for the day. Here are the directions from my area. I-75 South to Exit 204 (in Ohio), West 475 West 475 to US23/South475 Towards Maumee/Dayton Merge onto Hwy/OH-2 West Exit 8B Continue West and cross 64 About a mile past 64, Harbor Side Health Care is on the left. Turn left at the street just past Harbor Side HC which is Country RD #2. (The RD 2 corner has Swan Gallery Custom Framing and Learning Center on it.) Continue south on County RD 2 and pass county Rds. EF, E, and D. The parking lot is just past Rd D on the left hand side. The trails are on both sides of the road, and there is a crossing area made for it. All of Road 2 looks like a residential area. I thought that we were in the wrong place, but we weren't. When you cross D, the area turns much more into a riding style area. There were only like two people there at 7:30am when we got there, but when we left at 12:30 the lot was packed. On weekdays my friends claim that there are barely any other riders around. Let me know if you have questions. Quote
Nightrider Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 SAM97,were both sides of the road open?I was there a few weeks back and the trails across the road was closed for logging.Been wanting to go back out,but wasn't sure if they were finished. Its a small place called Maumee state forest,it can be found on ohio DNR website. Good place for tuning engines.Big enough to really let em rip,yet small enough for a breakdown. There are alot more trails in between the marked ones. You just need to keep an eye for connectors. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 SAM...what do you need to ride in OH, as in ...an ORV sticker for MI...? You mentioned DNR...so, is the ORV the same for all states, just MI? Quote
Nightrider Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 Ohio honors Michigan registration stickers, but Michigan will not honor Ohios registration. Quote
jaysvt Posted May 16, 2005 Author Report Posted May 16, 2005 is that place in ohio a legal place to ride?? jay Quote

badassbanshee479 Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 heres the link http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/forestry/Forest...ests/maumee.htm 370604 milan mi has an out door track with races every fridays and practice every wensday I think you have to get a membership to the MRA to ride there though (which you can get there) it is off of us23 exit 25 next to the drag way, they also have a sand drag way and a 1/4 mile pavement stip used to race dirt bikes at this track when I was younger was a good way to spend a friday night grandparents have a house in the irons area which is by peacock great place to ride and never been bothered by the dnr Quote
sam97 Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 Sorry for not responding in the last few days, started a new job...etc. Anyway, yes this place is legal, yes both sides of the road were open, and you only need to have a michigan ORV sticker to ride. THis time I never even saw the DNR (I refer to all atv officers as DNR, I don't know if that is what the Ohio ones are called or not) guy, so it wasn't an issue. THey closed some of the older trails that were open last year, namely the drag strip that was across the road. I wasn't happy, as this was were I could show the Banshee's true colors against my bro's raptor. They also put up these huge signs saying "slow down and stay alive." Apparently they had some major accidents with people hitting trees at speed last year. Anyway, if you guys have any other questions let me know. Later Quote

The blue banshees were in our group. Stock wheelbase bikes were mine and my brothers. mine has PC pipes, my brothers has FMF. The other blue banshee has a 6" extended swingarm, thats my buddy's bike. He had 18" MX tires on that bike and we ended up swapping for my tires later in the day, made a huge difference. Planning on making another trip up to Dusty's soon. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Yeah...that swung out 18 inch tire spun all day long, felt bad for him. My buddies on the 450Rs are camping at D's this weekend, and hitting Gladwin trails one day. His Grandma lives in Gladwin, so...one of the nights they're gonna stay there. I'm going to try and get to Dusty's this Sunday, and ride all day. Hope for good weather, and Dusty's not being too....dusty.... Hope to see you there! Quote
