tecumseh Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 (edited) I am new to the forum and new to riding. I rode a friends banshee the other day and it was awesome. I have never ridden before and i know nothing about fixing modifying or the first thing about atv's. I am thinking of buying a new banshee or a yz250 or yzf450. Looking at articles on this site it looks like you have to work on them quite a lot, i am still trying to figure out what a reed is??? should I spend that kind of money on something that constantly needs worked on. I would like to learn but it looks like a lot of info. I seen on here that even the wrong adjustment for rich or lean can mees up your engine. I am afraid to spend 6,000 and screw it up. Should i buy? Edited April 11, 2005 by tecumseh Quote
Cannon Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Most of the "working on" Banshee's you read about here is deliberate, as in modifications to existing systems or adding on aftermarket parts. All intended for more performance from an "out of the box" pretty quick quad. I don't think you would have to do much at all, as far as working on a Banshee, other than routine maintenance, unless you wanted to modify it. Most people do it because they enjoy it and like the results gained. If you become a Banshee owner I'm sure you will soon know what I'm taking about. Quote
demonspeeding42069 Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 what he said but it really all comes down to what type of riding you are going to be doing??? trails, jumps, dunes, just puttin around? like cannon said we all do it because we want to/ and because 95% of everyone on here has alot of modifications which more mods = more work and maintenence. a bone stock banshee is going to have its maintence and problems as any quad will over time it is unavoidable with anything . where are u from ? FIRST BANSHEE Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 If it's tune properly and maintained well you'll have less problems than the new 4-strokes, they have more things to maintain. I've had my banshee about a year and a half now and my clutch cable broke this weekend. big deal. I personally would buy a used banshee already modified. Quote

Should I buy a banshee over a dirtbike? I know they are different and both seem to be alot of fun, also are banshees generally faster than say a yzf450 or 250? Quote

Porting really wakes these bikes up. Quote

CowboyBanshee Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 They have half the weight, so in a drag, i usually lose, we are really close up top, but they get lots on me in the holeshot.... Quote
