Killdmycobra Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 (edited) Well I have owned my TRX450R for a while and wanted to add a two stroke to the line up since i have never owned one. I saw other Banshees on the trails and i had to have one. Last night i purchased a 2005 Black Limited edition shee, but i know nothing about modifications for two strokes. I really would like to keep the pistons stock. My friend reccommended a set of Toomey T-6 or T-5 pipes (unsure which to get), V force reeds (unsure about that too), some sort of intake, and a Pro design cool head. My goal is to keep the pistons stock for as long as possible. I am not sure what other mods to do. Someone mentioned "cages" as well, but i have not idea what they are. someone please fill me in, or direct me to a link. Jeff Edited April 2, 2005 by Killdmycobra Quote
Toomey Banshee Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Welcome to the HQ. This is THE best site for anything. You can repair your washing machine, install a pool liner or just make you shee perform the way you want her to with the wealth of knowledge everyone in here has. As far as your mods, I would first invest in a pro design foam filter with the aluminum plate. Next pipes, and that is a completely different subject. Give us you riding style; eg. dunes, trails, drags, a little of all, and there is a pipe to fit your needs. After your pipe, I would recommend new rear tires, V-Force, timing advance and a lightened flywheel, in that order. All of these mods are pretty straight forward and can be assisted by someone here at the HQ. Another thing thats great to this site is the search function. Use that and if you still have questions let us know. Have fun.. Quote
demonspeeding42069 Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 first off welcome to the hq man !! just my 2 cents... i would wait till you u have brokin in the engine a lil before any heavy modding.. just me the heads.. i would go with a noss head rather then pro design .. i hear alot better things about noss.. also u can get them right from a guy on here ... www.nossmachine.com the rest depends on what type of riding u do .. dunes, drag, mx...??? but here are some sites u might find some goodies... http://www.trinityracing.com/products/yama...heeengperf.html http://vitosperformance.net/OnlinePage.htm http://www.hiper-technology.com/catalog/wh...boltPatternId=4 http://www.fullboreinnovations.com/body_plastic.htm# http://www.janssenmotorsports.com/ http://www.magicracing.com/home.asp http://www.jimssandtoys.com/ http://www.quicksandmotorsports.com/ hope this helps Quote
Killdmycobra Posted April 2, 2005 Author Report Posted April 2, 2005 (edited) Thanks guys, i appreciate the info and the welcome. I look forwad to posting here quite often. As far as the type of riding, I do everything, but the bike will mainly be for trail riding/ drag racing both on dirt and paved track. What pipes would you guys reccommend, the T5 or T6??? I know it has a lot to do with future mods, but i plan on keeping stock pistons for a while and probably change the head in the near future. I plan on keeping the suspension stock for a while as well. Jeff Edited April 2, 2005 by Killdmycobra Quote
Toomey Banshee Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Go CPI. Great for a stock motor and when the top end goes, you'll just wind up getting her ported, like we all do and thats when the CPI will out perform most any pipe. As far as head mods, go with DL Noss. He posts on here, seems like a pretty square guy and makes, what I have read, an outstanding head. 20cc domes will do the trick on pump gas at sea level. Quote
decon Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 well where do u ride? thats is the best way to tell you what pipe to get. Quote
Killdmycobra Posted April 2, 2005 Author Report Posted April 2, 2005 well where do u ride? thats is the best way to tell you what pipe to get. 348552[/snapback] I ride in trails in florida that include both high speed riding and some semi tight trails. I also am goiing to drag race at the track ( paved). So which pipe would you suggest with the NOSS head running pump gas (21 or 20 cc domes) and stock pistons??? Jeff Quote

BenBB Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Definitely start with an aftermarket air filter setup, you got alot of options between K&N(s) and foam, airbox or not, but anything is better than stock. Rejet for any motor mods that affect airflow, the more you mod it the more sensitive they seem to get, BUT a little effort in jetting can pay off in a big way. On pretty much any 2-stroke, you can make lots of power relatively cheap and make it as fast as you want with: 1.Intake (higher airflow in-aftermarket filter and remove airbox lid) 2.Exhaust (higher airflow out-pipe it) 3.Higher Compression (shave the head or go aftermarket) 4.Advance timing (degree key, adjustable timing plate, or aftermarket CDI) 5.Reeds/cages (aftermarket reeds on ported cages or complete reed & cage assembly) 6.Porting (from mild to maintain reliability to insane) 7.Crazy (big bore, stroker, powervalves, etc.) Quote
Killdmycobra Posted April 2, 2005 Author Report Posted April 2, 2005 Thanks guys, i appreciate all the suggestions. I will dp further searching before i buy anything. Which reeds would you suggest with the whole cage assembly? Vforce 3 or 2, or something else? I will definitely consider the BHG premium membership as well. One other thing (I know i am just full of questions). Have any of you lowered your temps by adding water wetter??/ On my TRX450r, it lowered temps better than Engine ice. Jeff Quote
sp1tekiller Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 For pipes, I would go FMF Fatties. The other pipes eg. CPI are more for top end power. If you are riding trails and dragging you will have a tough time with drag pipes on the trails. THe Fatties seem to be a good all around pipe that add power throughout the entire powerband. Quote
