redcell43 Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 (edited) ok From the first time i went to the dunes i found out that chain wax sucks not only dose it collect the sand it throws the shit all over your bike. so this is how i have been doing it for the dunes. I have two chains one for dirt and one for sand the one for dirt i dont really care about its the stock one and use chain wax carefully but still have the problem of it getting thrown all over my bike. on the sand chain i use plain old wd-40 and let it dry it seems to work ok and the chain seem to wear at a normal rate. so i think its works ok but if anyone know of a graphit base chain lube or some better than changeing chain once or twice a month. i clean the chains in Kerosene. that what i told was the best. racer Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 i clean the chains in Kerosene. that what i told was the best. 344452[/snapback] that could be hurting the o-rings, not sure on that though. but ive found belrays white chain lube to be the best. you can hardly remove the shit, and after 6 or so dune rides my chain isnt even beginning to show signs of wear. RNBRAD Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 I only use wd-40 on my chain. Other stuff slings everywhere. I'd just rather replace chains and sprockets more often than clean the mess. Quote
fixitrod Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 If I remember right the yamaha service manual says to soak the chain in kerosene. Quote

No problems riding in the sand or the mud with it. Quote

Yaxy Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 PJ-1 Blue labe works great, Just let it set overnight and it will stay on your chain no problem, plus I find it does not attract to much dirt once dry. Chris Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 cant remember the last time i lubed my chain. Quote
redcell43 Posted March 24, 2005 Author Report Posted March 24, 2005 how dose the belray work in sand. dose the sand stick to the chain. and the same for the pj-1. cause sand will eat the crap out of the chain and sprockets. Quote

redcell43 Posted March 24, 2005 Author Report Posted March 24, 2005 thanks for all the info guys Quote
JARE77 Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 I use the bell ray stuff too, it turns your chain white but it works awesome. It stays on forever and is O-ring safe. I think it is the first lube I have used that does not fling all over everything I hate lubes that do that! Quote
