Bud, I have a suggestion, SELL HER. I had an 80. About 3 months after I brought her home the motor spun a bearing. So I had a LT-1 motor thrown in and rebuilt the trans with a shift improver kit. Thought that was it. Well guess what, not yet. She ran hot, so I pulled the water pump, and threw a high flow edelbrock pump in. And in doing so I fucked up the radiator on its way out, so that had to be welded. (Which my brother in law squared away for me). Man, Vettes really, really suck to work on. So anyway, I was in the process of replacing the interior, this and that, that and this and guess what, my T-Tops got stolen, in front of my house, IN THE RAIN!! So back to square one there. All the shit I fixed was now FUBAR! I replaced the parts that I replaced to begin with, AGAIN, and started saving some money and the last straw was, and get this, the power antenna just kept powering. So much so it drained my battery, ALL THE TIME! IT ALWAYS HAD TO JUMPED! THATS IT!! That was my last friggin straw, I sold her to a good friend of mine, (after I told him she was a piece of friggin shit) and got into quadding and inevitabley banshees. Which, by the way are about as tempermental as Vettes.

Umm, good luck banghead

You can't win! Trust me!

My wife and I bought a '73 about 8 years ago. We fixed it up and repainted it. She would drive it to work once in a while. The first "incident' was in the parking lot at her office. One of the other employees parked next to her with the company suburban. When the suburban backed out, the driver swung wide before she was out of the parking space and busted a hole in the drivers side rear quater with the front bumper of the suburban.

The next one was on a one way street. My wife was backing out of a parking spot, and some guy in a car was going the wrong way and busted a hole in almost the same spot as the previous one.

The third one she was parked across the street from the post office. She comes out of of the post office just as an old Ford pickup was backing all the way across the street and punched a huge hole in the drivers side front quarter. Right in front of the door. All she could do is just watch it happen. She screamed FUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKk!!!!! The whole time, but the guy didn't stop 'till he hit the 'Vette.

It sits in the shed now, but we recently had new exhaust, tires, and a Edelbrock carb installed. I also have the rear half of a VB suspension kit installed. It needs a transmission rebuild, complete brake system rebuild, complete interior, and weather stripping. Can't drive it in the rain because the T-Tops and doors leak like a sieve. Any other car would be sent to the auto salvage. Basically it is a bigger money pit than the most ratted out 250R or Banshee could ever be...

Good luck with your project. They are a lot of fun because people look at them no matter how clapped out they are. A lot of people see a 'vette and wave or give the thumbs up.

The difference between a 'Vette and a Camaro is when you are driving a 'Vette, people will either flip you off or wave, or give the thumbs up- You get some kind of acknowledgement. When you are in a camaro, the only people that give you the thumbs up are the guys with mullets- and only if the Camaro has some endearing quality, such as big tires or a hoodscoop.

I had a '78 T-Top Black Trans-Am with a SD454 (not the original motor). Man that car was the shit. It had air shocks, fat tires, mag wheels. Alas, I met my wife, cut off my mullet, and the only hot rod I have is my Banshee. The Vette is my wifes. I don't drive it by myself because I look pretty bad in a leisure suit.

Looks like this thread got a little of topic, but yeah I've got a rear-end for that year vette. It's been in storage in my garage for about 5+ years now, but from what I remember it's complete with center section, trailing arms, discs, half-shafts, etc. Gearing is 4.11 posi. Was supposed to go under my '29 Model A street rod, but that project is on eternal hold... Prolly just give it to ya minus shipping to clear some space, or if ya got some extra shee parts?
