Dopeman0012 Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 My brothers engine is badly weathered. He siezed the pistons in the cylinders, bent the crank, and proceeded to let the motor sit outside for 3 years. It is bored .60 over and there is a crack case. The frame is in good condition but is trying to fix the engine worth the money and hassle? Should i just consider buying a new engine? Quote
. Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 get the pistons out, sell the cylinders, sell the trans, stator, flywheel, clutch cover, etc etc, everything that is still sellable, and buy an engine. You'll be ahead of the game in the long run with out of pocket expenses. Just pick and choose carefully when buying the engine. Quote
Holyman Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 That's really good advice. You will be surprised how much you will get for the old stuff. Go to the post office and get a bunch of the new flat rate priority boxes {they're free} and anything you can get into the box is $7.70 to ship. When you look for an engine, the banshee engine may be your first choice but the RZ350 engine is the same thing but better in some ways. Sometimes they are even cheaper than a shee engine. You will be able to get it up and running in no time. Quote

Wallrat Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I just rebuilt mine from the ground up and it came out to about $2k including carbs, filters, reeds, cases, stroker crank, bore, cut head, clutch, clutch basket, seals, gaskets, shifter, chain/sprockets, water pump, cables, and a few other odds and ends. But the benefit is I basically have a better than new, very reliable engine. Quote
