me and a buddy were out ridin yesterday, and while goin up a hill about(20mph) his chain fell off. It wasnt loose to begin w/ the ride and he has full skids so no rock couldve bent the sprocket and made it fall off. Well when the chain fell off it bundles up and hit the tranny case ( the housing of the shifter output shaft to be exact) and shattered it, oil went everywhere. This bike has been ridden less than 10 hours and we called the dealer and they said no warranty work will be done to it because the chain fell off not broke. What do you think can be done? Argue with the dealer or just pay it this kind of stuff just happens? i have had the chain on the raptor come off goin 60 and it didnt do a thing except break a few teeth on the front sprocket what gives man?

That's the result of not doing pre-emptive maintenance and tightening your chain. It can happen to any chain driven engine. The yfz comes with a case saver but its fairly thin and would only hold up to most breakages. Several companies sell very beefy versions of the same thing that will protect the cases during even the most severe breaks. Anyway man, sorry for the bad luck.

too tight? thats bad also. you might be able to get it out of your dealer, depending on how you go about things. blame it on the setup department. cause i know when i get blamed for shit at work, it always gets fixed.

Mine did the same thing on a brand new chain. But I got lucky the dealer warranttied my chain and all that happened was it broke then came up and smacked my foot. Hurt like hell
