jeepman380 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 Does anyone have any blueprints of a custom made swingarm? I need something to go off of when I'm making mine. When you are extending it do you extend it after the shock mount or before or on both sides? What angle should to shock mount be at? Thanks for your help. Quote
NugShee Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 we need to know if your extending your factory swingarm or fabbing one from scratch. Let me know and Ill give you some tips on what to do. Quote
jeepman380 Posted March 11, 2005 Author Report Posted March 11, 2005 I'm fabin' one from scratch. Quote
Blue Duece Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 measure from where the swinger attaches to the frame to the shock mount and keep that the same then make the shit as long(or short) as you want Quote
jeepman380 Posted March 11, 2005 Author Report Posted March 11, 2005 That's what I figured but I just thought I would check to make sure. So do you leave the shock mount at the same angle or do you change it a bit? Quote
Blue Duece Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 same angle......unless your gonna do some fancy redesign....but to run an after market or stock shock id leave the pitch alone........you goin longer or shorter? Quote
Blue Duece Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 so your riding in sand? i asume you could fuck with the geomitry of the chassis and still be able to dune on it, but if the shocks not pitched right youll either pogo like a son of a bitch in any terrain or the ass end will fishtail kinda like it had no shock at all, so youd loose shitloads of traction, maybe just copy the rake on the stocker and extend that 4 inches, thats probally all the after market guys do....gary at qiucksand would tell ya, he's a member of the HQ.....post pics of what you come up, ive shortened a few but never extended one.....good luck man Quote
jeepman380 Posted March 11, 2005 Author Report Posted March 11, 2005 I'll take some pics as i'm building it and when it's finished and on my shee then i'll post them on here. I guess if I do have any trouble my instructors will help me out. They know a shit ton about suspension design. Quote
BigRed350x Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 When you get that shit made give me a call. If it works good I would probably pay you to make me one. Me & about 4 other guys are going riding up at my place on Saturday if you want to come. Give me a call... 307-630-5431 - Jared Quote
jeepman380 Posted March 12, 2005 Author Report Posted March 12, 2005 Aight...i'll make you one after I get out of school. I'm buying a TIG welder before I get out of school cause we get a good discount so i'll be able to make you one after I get out if mine turns out good. I won't be able to ride...my shee is still storing at my instructor's house. Plus it isn't jetted for up here. I didn't bring any of my jets or anything cause I didn't figure i'd be riding it anywhere. Quote

Good luck Quote

I have jets that we could put in your bike if you really want to ride. Besides, jets are only $2.00 down at TNT so it wouldn't be very expensive to jet it. Let me know if you want to come. Quote
jeepman380 Posted March 13, 2005 Author Report Posted March 13, 2005 I didn't bring my paddles or any of my gear plus I dont' really have the time since I graduate in like 2 weeks so I got alot of shit I got to pack up and whatnot. I've been calling around for a while now trying to find 3 3/4" x .180" DOM tubing for my axle carrier but nobody has anything like that around here and I really need it. You don't happen to know where I could find some? Quote
