JKJK Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 With my 4 mill mx set up i was pulling 4th no prob up Olds+China. With a 15-41+22in sand stars. Quote
ssanddemon Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I rode Glamis last week for the first time, found my bike liked 13/41 much better that 14/41. Easily picked up 4th on Olds. Thinking about adding another 2 or 3 teeth to the back for the next trip, but the sand was so wet, that may have changed things a bit from the usual. But really, how often does anyone max out in 6th? Seems like gearing down for sand makes sense because it closes up the gear spacing, makes it so much easier to keep it in the band. Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted March 17, 2005 Author Report Posted March 17, 2005 okay so this is waht I am gonna do: go to a 12 tooth front with 300 main jets... I do not have 13 just 12, 14, and 15, and I have 280, mains w/290, and 300 in the tool box. we will see what happens at Easter, anyone going to Ogilby? Quote
lincster Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 You are lean on the mains. I run 370 mains with my T5s and the Toomey 2:1 air filter setup. I have the stock gearing and weigh 220lbs. I can pull that hill in 4th no problem. Although now I just smoke Banshees while I eat the hill up in my LS1 powered rail. Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted March 23, 2005 Author Report Posted March 23, 2005 do you have any porting w/370 mains???? Quote
lincster Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 do you have any porting w/370 mains???? 343723[/snapback] Nope, just a coolhead with 20cc domes. I know it sounds fat, but I have ran like this for 4 years and I know I don't have any air leaks. Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted April 16, 2005 Author Report Posted April 16, 2005 well, I ended up running a 13-41 set up and went up to 300 mains, I will try 320 next trip/season, and see what happens. I like the gearing, I was pulling fifth up the hill.... Quote
