sandornothing Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 First off, I dont know a thing about doing my own port work, I choose to leave it to the pro's. But is there any benefit to dremeling (very minimal) like this guy did on all the angles inside where the reeds seat, just to round things off a little for better flow. Not that i'd jack with my own cylinders, more or less im just curious. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...4532593128&rd=1 Quote
sandornothing Posted March 4, 2005 Author Report Posted March 4, 2005 C'mon...someone has to know something about this. Im not talking full on porting, just rounding off all the little angles inside there. Quote
Fireman-hott Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Yeah many around here have done it including myself. I sold that set for a big bore but it woke up with the sport porting from race logic. If you go into porting deep enough to start removing the sleeve your gonna need a hone to clean up the bore. You dont need to snag a ring now I also did use a dremel, just take your time. Quote
Ducman Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 If you are going to do a litle DIY port work, get the race logic porting template and do the whole enchilada. A lot of people in the HQ have had some good results with it. Do a search imputing "Race Logic" and you will find some good DIY porting info. Quote

sandornothing Posted March 5, 2005 Author Report Posted March 5, 2005 Thanks ill keep you in mind, but my bikes not ready for a tear down yet. Ive only had it out 6 times since halloween. I'll juggle the idea of porting when i do the topend this summer while the jugs are off, but im already pushing the limits of the stock crank i think. I run the stock clutch because it will slip a little before the crank splits. The only reason i asked the original question was to see if there would be any benefit, or if it would it hurt any to (very lightly) round off some of the angles inside where the reed seat and wet sand the exhaust ports. I woundnt take off any of the sleeve at all. Quote
