DerekT Posted March 6, 2005 Author Report Posted March 6, 2005 Yes I think we are on the right track. It is now cold and will not start , just like it doesn't have a choke. When my pilot jets come in I will see for sure. I also got some 280's in the Dynojet kit should I put them in as well. Again thanks for all your help so far I think I have this thing beat. Quote
superdave Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Hey...great job staying with it..The carbs can be swapped, but the the choke would not be reachable...choke goes on the left side with the shift lever...I also think that maybe the bowls are swapped backwards....Great job though...Its good to be on a forum where people really care if someone else gets their BANSHEE running...D Quote
blk02banshee Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 This is one of the best threads I've read in a while. As for the brass tube, don't mistake it for the overflow tubes. Both bowls will have one on an angle. (I'm sure that's nothing new to you) Look for a little brass thing on the top towards the front of the bowl, where the bowl would contact the gasket. The gasket will have a cutout for it. Ooops, I might be thinking of my streetbike, but you'll see the difference in bowls, and it'll become obvious once you look at them, which one goes where. After that and the pilots, if it still is'nt right, pull out the needle jets that are under the mains. They come out through the slide tower. There's a ton of little holes in it, and if even one is clogged, it will wreak havok on tuning. Quote
. Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 brass choke tube should be on the left carb. You definitely need a 27.5 pilot Quote
JKJK Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 (edited) Derek, Varify that the bowls are correct first. If their wrong, change them+nothing else+test. If the cold start+idle problems persists the pilots are prob to small.Do a plug chop+that will tell ya where your at on the mains. If the bowls are not wrong,I'd go straight to the 280's. DerekT Posted March 6, 2005 Author Report Posted March 6, 2005 Well it's fixed Float bowles were swapped and thus choke did not work. Swapped bowles this AM and it started 2nd kick. Thanks to all and special thanks to JKJK who got me on the right track. This quad was only used in the sand dunes and most likley didn't have a big problem as it was warmer out. I also bought it on a warm day so it started then. Anyways enough of this typing I'M Going Ridding !!!! Quote

. Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 sweet man, glad we got it figured out. What jetting are you running? Might wanna still drop those 27.5's in and see how it reacts and I'd say 280's would probably be about right as well. Quote
DerekT Posted March 7, 2005 Author Report Posted March 7, 2005 Just came back from one sweet ass ride. Starts 1st kick hot ,cold , warm. Small stumble off idle but know the 27.5 will clean that up. Think I will take your advise and throw the 280 in as well. I can re and re the carbs in my sleep now. One simple fact "I would not of figured this out without your help". Thanks again and untill my next problem.... See Ya Quote
