blk02banshee Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 I would definately try to re-adjust the airscrews. When I bought mine, I had the same problem, and found that the airscrews were WAY OFF!. one was 2 1/2 turns out and the other was 2 turns. They actually needed to be 1 3/4. I have to adjust mine all the time, depending on outside air temperature. Quote
SANDSTAR Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Ahhh, I rember my first ride. Hit the powerband, slid sideways, hit a creasote bush with my rear wheels, flipped her over on her side, bent an a arm and shock, sprained an ankle and both wrists. Even though I couldnt jerk off for a month, I was hooked. Powerband affects me like hookers affect bill clinton. Quote
whoamack22 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 lol just about the same thing happened to me, except i had road rash from hell, but im hooked, i had a yfz450 before my banshee and not regretting getting rid of it, Quote
bansheeboy619 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Dude I had that same thing happen. you just need to get on the throttle and clean that shit out of your pipes.you do that and your bike will run fine. if that does not work take it back. Quote
Brian060 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Thats probably just it.. takes some getting used to... i am used to being able to rev up just a little... let out the clutch and be able to start slow but still have throttle response to take off like the wind when i wish.... ill just have to tame the beast.... BTW... had to change my shorts after I hit the powerband for the first time. 320737[/snapback] word Quote
watkins Posted February 14, 2005 Author Report Posted February 14, 2005 Hmph... well... the airscrews were out 4 turns. I screwed them back all the way in and then 1 1/2 out. I havent had a chance to test it out yet.. but wouldnt that cause a leaning condition and not too rich? Quote
Ducman Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Your airscrews being 4 turns out would probably give it an off idle bog or poor throttle response. I wouldn't mess with the snorke, airbox lid,l or any jetting besides the air screws and the idel untill you get it good and broke in. 1 full tank run through and start riding it a lot harder. The motor will change a lot and start comming in to operating range when it gets good and hot a few times. My stock motor changed a lot when I broke it in, and there was a huge difference how my stroker motor ran up to about 2 tanks of gas. It started out acting pig rich (which it was too rich on the needle) but got way better after it broke in. Also the case and cylinders can get loaded up with fuel and oil when you let it idle for a long time with out ridng it to clean it out and it will make it real cold blooded, idle like crap, and bog real bad untill you hit the band a couple times and go up through the gears under load. It will start and run a lot better once it is broke in. Changing the plugs after the first tank is a good idea too because they never seem to run as good after the plugs gets somewhat foulded. Quote
watkins Posted February 20, 2005 Author Report Posted February 20, 2005 Well.. i adjusted the air screws.. not much improvment.. however... I am running 24:1 right now... so I will drain the tank and throw in 32:1 and see if there is any improvment Quote
