yellabanshee Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 So I have a 2003 banshee.......Fatty's w/ powercore2...k&N...lid off jetted of coarse and the bike runs awesome.....I would love so more power, but dont want to start into the motor before i have to......would reeds be the next thing on the list? and can i just buy the reeds them self or do i get a benefit by doing the cage and all........... thanks ohh, do i need to have the crank welded at this time.....or is it strong enough? Quote
banshdog Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Do not have to weld your crank now, not until more major engine modification. There is plenty of modifications that can be done. All depends on what you are wanting performance wise, and of course the almighty $$$$ Upgrading the stock reeds would definately give you imporvement over stock. Assuming that you are looking at performance mods....you could Advance timing, Change gearing, Lighten Flywheel, Aftermarket head (or mod the stock one) Quote
yellabanshee Posted February 1, 2005 Author Report Posted February 1, 2005 ohh........i have geared the front and rear.......better low end for trails... so out of all the mods you mention which one will be the best for moe low end power for trail riding? thanks Quote
05bansh Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Put on a noss head and advance your timing. Quote
banshdog Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 (edited) Put on a noss head and advance your timing. 315641[/snapback] Yeah, what he said. You can get an adjustable plate for your timing, or buy a 4 degree advancement key. Some people say that the keys will break. I rode a complete season so far with mine and no problems yet. Noss head w/ smaller domes (20 or 21cc) will give you some more low end and help keep temperatures down as well. Edited February 1, 2005 by banshdog Quote
RNBRAD Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 If your looking at reeds, if it all possible get the v-force 2's. They come with their own cages. Also ditto on the posts above. Quote
. Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 at a minimum....get some boyeson dual stage reeds (stick with the epoxy, carbon fiber is overrated) v-force will give you a little more throttle response, and would suit you better when you look into getting bigger carbs wayyyyy down the line. Difference is 50 and 200 dollars, noticable difference....not that much that your gonna feel right now.....150 could go to better stuff Definitely get the dual stage reeds.....you'll have a new quad when you do....the throttle response difference is amazing, and your quad will do what you want it to do, when you want it to....plain and simple....the stock reeds suck. get a timing plate from ricky stator....35 bucks....you'll need a flywheel puller which is about 10. If your running a K&N with the lid off, do you have a outerwears for it? Do you hit a lot of mud, dust, etc etc? If you do you might want to think of eventually switching to a foam. Lot better protection and minimal hp loss (1/2 hp at most) Quote
