98bonerSTOCKshee Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I got my 200w from Ricky, to my understanding it has the stock wattage for the lights and ignition at the plug allowing for no modifying of the stock electrical system. My question is about the extra circuit.. Is it 120 watts? Do I need to add a voltage regulator if I run 2 55w halogens or can I just wire the new lights straight to the stator? Also I was thinking of a 12v dry cell battery like from a RC car or a cordless drill for accessory lights after the motor is off, Is it possible to charge the battery? Do I need a Single Phase Rectifier/Regulator or something to keep it charged? If this has been covered before please direct me to the correct location I have honestly search the forum! Quote
Wallrat Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I'm not too well read up on the whole battery issue but TRAILTECH has a small how-to written up on their website. In regards to your 200w stator... There are 2 different circuits running on your stator. One is ignition and is the same as a stock stator. The other is for lighting. The stock lighting circuit puts out 70w, yours puts out a full 200w. You can run any number of watts for your lighting as long as you don't go past 200. You can even go slightly over 200 but your lights will dim and look yellowish. Quote

My brain is itching.. Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 What 2 extra wires? My bike is a '97 and my RS 200W plugged right in... Quote
richwuest Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Are you sure it is a 200 Watt Ricky stator? Some other brands use additional wires like you mention, with a stock lighting system and additional wire for supplemental lighting. Also, Ricky stator use to sell a system that had two lighting circuits, but I believe it was a 260 watt rather than the 200 watt single channel they have now. Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted January 20, 2005 Author Report Posted January 20, 2005 My bad I just followed the wires on my bike there are a total of 6 wires, 4 to the white plug and 2 more seperated....Just like the bran new stator I have here in my hand..DOH! DUNEDEMON what type of lights you running? I picked up 2) 6" off road lights with 100watt halogens.. I am mounting them on the bars right below my grips (will post a how to when done). I want to run the stock lights also, so I am thinking swapping the 100 for 55w. That should bring the total to around 180 watts... I wonder if the 200w stator would run both 100wattors and the stock 35's? Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 I am running Ricky Stators off the shelf "Duner" light kit (Piaa's - 1 spot - 1 flood) 6" lights on the bars next to the grips Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted January 20, 2005 Author Report Posted January 20, 2005 6" lights on the bars next to the grips 309538 I'll post the pics when I get done. They'll be actually under the bar and grip just below all the hand controls on both sides. When the bars are forced all the way past the furthest mosted left or right turn the chrome housing just kisses the tank cover plastic. Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Quote
Dr. Overkill Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Also, Ricky stator use to sell a system that had two lighting circuits, but I believe it was a 260 watt rather than the 200 watt single channel they have now. 309482 Yep, I had one. It had a 100w output and a 160w output. He had a lot of problems with them (I got lucky) and the manufacturer refused to take his advice on fixing it, so he stopped carrying them and switched to the 200w single-output model. _d Quote

NMBANSHEE Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Test fitting picture... 310134 Man those things look Huge when mounted to the bars Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted January 22, 2005 Author Report Posted January 22, 2005 Man those things look Huge when mounted to the bars I was gonna mount in front of the bars, didn't think I would see around them!! Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 OK I got the stator installed, went to take the 'shee for a spin to make sure everything works before moving on to the lights... The 'shee seems to be misfiring just about when the power kicks in.. I had the timing +3 degrees so I moved it back to 0.. 'Shee still won't wind up. I also had my flywheel lightened but didn't think either mod should make her run like this. Ricky Stator said to set the coil to flywheel @ .010 to .015, I am about .011. I didn't think this would affect my jetting so I haven't made carb adjustment. I am running NGK B8ES just like always. I don't need a different plug do I? Anybody else have anything like this with the Ricky Stator 200w and adjustable plate? Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 ok I changed the plugs no affect... I checked the restance for the stator it checked out fine.... I checked the resetance on the coil primary lead it was fine... When I checked the plug leads I can't get a ohm reading on either side, I even removed the caps and still no movement on my ohm meter, Did my coil go bad? The 'shee fires and idles fine. If the coil was bad would it run? Quote
