Wallrat Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Just finished my rebuild and my intake sounds like one of those stupid exhausts that the rice burner kids put on their accords when I gas it. It sounds really 'throaty' right at the filter. I'm still trying to dial in the jetting but I dunno if that's what's causing it or if that's normal for a single carb. Anybody know? Quote
RNBRAD Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 That's just part of having an open filter system. Just a little more noise, you'll get used to it. Quote
bansheefreak Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 if your filter is open you are hearing the carb suck the air in... it is no biggie and like brad said you will get used to it... Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 I ran that carb set up with the air box, no lid an it did that. Braup! I loved that sound. I tried to make it louder, but it kind of sucks riding without the seat Quote
Holyman Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 I remember the same thing when I put a Toomey 2:1 filter on mine. Once you get used to it, you'll be able to keep a better ear out for changes in engine sound. Quote
Wallrat Posted January 16, 2005 Author Report Posted January 16, 2005 I'm coming from a toomey 2:1 and this is much louder. Maybe its just a single carb = more velocity thing... Quote
Motoman991 Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 mine does that too. my jeep does it to, it sounds good on my jeep exspecially with the flowmaster exhaust Quote
kenr74 Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I have the same thing at low idle. Just installed the 33 PWK CV and can't get it running well. Left side is very wet for some reason and doesn't want to fire. Right side is fine though. The growling from the filter is normal though? Quote
bigboybanshee Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 The growling from the filter is normal though? 307898[/snapback] Yep Quote
KRMit Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Yeah, if you take the airbox lid off with stock carbs it'll do the same thing. Quote
broke Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Dual clamp ons are the same way. I actually had an easier time tuning from right off idle, beausse I could actually hear the air speed change from the crack of the throttle. I like the noise. Quote
