liquedfire Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 what does chopping your silincers do for the performance of your bike Quote
broke Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 "Probably" not much more than make it louder. Ask Loco, he did a very clean job on his. Quote
1sreamin350 Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Seems like more throttle responce. You will have to rejet it. Sounds pretty cool, I cut the silencer in half and gutted the hole thing, then welded it back together. That was awhile ago, now I have some toomeys. Good luck. Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 i cut my rocket silencers 2.5" for the sole purpose of making them look better. they were too long. i didnt notice any noise level change but i think it made it a little bit snappier. how much are you wanting to cut off of yours? if you are talking 2 inches then no rejet is going to be needed and even if you cut them in half im very doubtful its gonna change much. if you have a silencer thats got one end just riveted on you can drill the rivets out, cut everything down, re assemble, drill new holes and put some small screws in. its a pretty simple process. just remember however much you cut off the outside is how much you have to cut off the inside tube... wesw Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 i cut 2 inch off my rockets like loco did. they are way to long if wheelied and hit the grab bar it probably would have hit the silencers. i would recommend a band saw instead of a chop saw like i did hard to get a nice cut on a chopsaw.
