Hi All, im new here, and kinda new to yamaha, ive rode honda bout all my life and wanted to try new stuff, love it soo far, but what i am askin bout, You can see my mods in my signature, but i was wonderin how well that lil timing advanse works, isnt it just a key that turns your stator soo many degress or something, i was wondering if they are worth the money.

#4 you need a timing plate that is adjustable..i'm not a fan of the keys, if you set it at +4 you will see some gains and will be good for all around riding

ricky stator timing plate $35,well worth it. +3-5 degrees, good bottom end mod

That's what I would recommend for most people also. I am running plus +5 too.

What's the max you'd want to advance the timing on an internally stock (just pipes, aibox, jetted) engine--if you still want to be able to run on 91 octane? And would that setting be pushing it on hot (90+F) trips?

Depends on your compression to begin with. If it's stock or say under 150, you'd be safe going to +6 or so.

It'll help all over. Only thing it will affect is starting. Before, with +4, it'd cold start on first or second, but since I've gone to +7, it seems that it now takes 4 or 5 to cold start. Warm starts have always been first kick.
