It appears that my bushings on the lower end of my shock are worn out, and I was told (by the dealership) that you can't replace the lower shock bushing on a stock shock....he said it was built into the shock. Do any of you know any more about this? He was telling me the only "fix" to it is to buy another complete shock.....is that true???

Thanks!

I haven't looked at the stock shock bushing. I have made new bushings for my Works shocks before, pretty simple. Any machinist should be able to fix you up pretty easy.

Travis,

Put up a picture of what it is you need. I have some left over stock shock parts layin around. Not sure about the condition of them, but I'll take a look for you.

If its the part I'm thinking of, you just have to replace the lower section, and that can be done with a spring compressor, a vice, and a couple of wrenches in about 15 minutes or so.

Thanks Stan! I'll post a pic up here tonight after I get off of work. It's the part where the shock bolts to the lower a-arm, and it has quite a bit of play in it, hence where I figured it needed new bushings....

Thanks for the help guys, I knew I could count on ya!

If that came off the bottom of the shock, then yes, that is exactly what I need. LOL, did you just disassemble two shocks to get those?

I just realized something.....

You said the part that attatches to the lower a arm.

THese attatch to the shock mount on the frame....

I couldn't remember how the shocks were mounted, but it s with the shock body down...... banghead

The lower bushings as far as the rubber part can't be changed, but there are some steel sleave type bushings that can be....

eh....

sorry....

:shrugani:

But yes, these are left overs from when I bought some shocks and chromed the springs. I think these are from my '98 shocks.

Eh, it appears so.

Check around the HQ though. Its where I got me "gently used" shocks that I run now.

I paid aobut $120 total for 2 stock fronts.

I'm sure Nyuk has a hundred of them laying around his garage. :D

Bearing rebiuld kit

TECH info:Shock bearing kits include two teflon spherical bearings (cup bearings when applicable) and four seals for the repair of upper and lower eye of the rear shock

Special note to your Dealer He only cares about Money & it's not yours.
