bigboybanshee Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 It appears that my bushings on the lower end of my shock are worn out, and I was told (by the dealership) that you can't replace the lower shock bushing on a stock shock....he said it was built into the shock. Do any of you know any more about this? He was telling me the only "fix" to it is to buy another complete shock.....is that true??? Thanks! Quote
BdBanshee Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I haven't looked at the stock shock bushing. I have made new bushings for my Works shocks before, pretty simple. Any machinist should be able to fix you up pretty easy. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Travis, Put up a picture of what it is you need. I have some left over stock shock parts layin around. Not sure about the condition of them, but I'll take a look for you. If its the part I'm thinking of, you just have to replace the lower section, and that can be done with a spring compressor, a vice, and a couple of wrenches in about 15 minutes or so. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted December 30, 2004 Author Report Posted December 30, 2004 Thanks Stan! I'll post a pic up here tonight after I get off of work. It's the part where the shock bolts to the lower a-arm, and it has quite a bit of play in it, hence where I figured it needed new bushings.... Thanks for the help guys, I knew I could count on ya! bigboybanshee Posted December 30, 2004 Author Report Posted December 30, 2004 If that came off the bottom of the shock, then yes, that is exactly what I need. LOL, did you just disassemble two shocks to get those? Quote

LOL, did you just disassemble two shocks to get those? 299823[/snapback] I just realized something..... You said the part that attatches to the lower a arm. THese attatch to the shock mount on the frame.... I couldn't remember how the shocks were mounted, but it s with the shock body down...... The lower bushings as far as the rubber part can't be changed, but there are some steel sleave type bushings that can be.... eh.... sorry.... But yes, these are left overs from when I bought some shocks and chromed the springs. I think these are from my '98 shocks. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted December 30, 2004 Author Report Posted December 30, 2004 LMAO, it's all good Stan....I really appreciate your efforts in helping me out!!! So, I guess I'm gonna be needing to buy some new shocks, huh? Quote

I paid aobut $120 total for 2 stock fronts. I'm sure Nyuk has a hundred of them laying around his garage. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted December 30, 2004 Author Report Posted December 30, 2004 I'll check.....but it might be a good enough reason for me to get the 450 shocks I was thinking of slapping on there too. I'll see what I can find Thanks again for all your help!!! Quote
