SHEEBANSAVAGE Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Hello again, I want to purchase a adjustable timing plate. Which is a good brand to go with?? Ricky or Trinity or some ones off ebay or does it really matter? Also, when I install it, is there any other issues I should be worried about? thx in advance Quote
Big Blue Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 ricky's is good and doesnt cost near as much as some of the others. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 there all about the same with a diffrent name stamped on them, choose whichever, its not really hard to change, just make sure you have a flywheel puller. Quote
fixitrod Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 I think the ricky stator plates only $35. Go with it. Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Ricky's is cast the others are billet. The cast would probably be the way to go and for about half the price. Quote
ledofthezep Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 No complaints with my RS adjustable plate, hell the stock wattage stator has held up great compared to the 2 OEM stators I toasted. But anyway...as far as when installing it & things to worry about; this isn't really anything to worry about, just a head's-up...you'll probably need to do some filing on it to get it to fit in, no biggie though. Here's some pics of when I did mine & you can see where it's binding & where I had to file a bit. Hope that makes sense... Quote
stclark816 Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 They all do the same thing. Go with whichever price looks the best to you. Quote

fixitrod Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 I didn't have to file mine, but it was snug. Quote

nater006 Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 my ricky plate was slightly more than snug also. I filed a very fine amount off so it'd fit just right and its great. modding the stocker isn't hard with a Dremel or similar. Ricky has a pic on his site of his adjustable plate and the markings and you can get approximate advance degree locations from the pic. its like 1mm or so per degree.. along those lines. Quote
chopperfuker Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 ok so maybe I am stupid, but is this mod really worth doing if your motor is pretty much stock? I really have no idea what kind of power advantages you can get from this Quote
