i just put a stroker in and i was wondering whats a good starting point for the jetting it has stock carbs with toomey throttle cabbles and k&n pods tep is around 50 deg down here

Whatever you do, don't ask locogato, those Missouri boys can't jet for shit.... :P j/k bro.

Hey, I'm gonna take a wild guess here. I have no experience jetting strokers and big bores, but I'm gonna say try some 380s to 400s in the main. I could be totally wrong, but I feel thats where I'd start if it were my machine. Also, it might be time to invest in some bigger carbs to really get the full potential.

Later.

Start w/ 380 mains, stock pilots, needles 2nd-3rd clip from the blunt end. This is just a starting point, but will get you close...I ran 370's in mine last spring on the dyno around that temp. Let us know what you end up w/...Sredish is right. You should get some 35's, strokers love to breath.

i have 260 mains in it right now i think it get enough fuel because when it does run it hauls ass. the guy i had build it says it might be the stator. he thinks when it gets hot it stops working right. he is checking my electrical system right now. when i figure it out i will let you guys know but if you have any other suggestions please let me know.

what do you think about 34mm pj's

Get you a pair of pwk 35mm carbs. They are easier to jet then the PJs. You are way to lean running 260 mains in the stock carbs if you have aftermarket pipes. You really haven't told us much about you setup.

heres what i have

400 stroker

ported & polished

cool head w/22cc domes

3/8 reed spacer

v force reeds

k&n pods

adjustable timing plate advanced 3deg

fmf fatty's

hinson clutch basket

dirt digger clutch

toomey throttle cables

thats all for right now i need to also get a suspension and probably carbs to big time.

Ya your ridiculously lean man. Remember...start rich and work your way down. I think I've got 270's in my bike and all I have is pipes and a filter. At least I think I have 270s...damn been so long since I rode anywhere but glamis that I haven't jetted in like a year!

see i dont understand because people keep telling me oh just jet like it was just the pipes on there then other people tell me to go bigger on the jets so i think i just might go bigger on the jets.

what about the stator assemble because when it stops running on one side or the other it seems like it isint getting spark but it does. but them the engine builder said it could get hot then stop working so im just a tad bit stumped bangheadbanghead

Just keep in mind that running an engine rich wont cause damage and running an engine lean WILL. That is why these guys are telling you to go bigger.

Here is some very useful info I got from someone on this site. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html

If you read this you will be an expert. :headbang:

Ya given that everyone here says your way too lean, focus on that first. If it still runs bad then come back to us and we'll work on the next problem. I doubt its your stator though. Jetting for just pipes is nutty cuz porting/polishing is gonna cause you to have WAY more airflow. Just a guess here but you've probably already done some damage since it sounds like you've been running it alot the way it is. The reason why you always start rich and work your way down is cuz running just long enough to wind it out and get a good read from the plugs is plenty of time to cause some serious damage. I'd check your compression, fire your builder, and get some 380's - 400's.

i have only ridden it 2 times since it was built both times it was no more than 15 min but i will heck the compression and then rejet it most definetly.

stupid question what do you think the compression should be around?
