01bansheefox Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 There is water inside the crank part of the engine, do I need to split the engine open? or is there an easier way to get this water out? Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 turn the motor upside down Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 3, 2004 Author Report Posted December 3, 2004 Are you being sarcastic or serious? Would that drain all the water? and will I be needing to replace anyhting? Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 how did you get water in the crank case. need more info Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 3, 2004 Author Report Posted December 3, 2004 Well if you read my other posts not sure or not...... My head o-ring broke and water leaked all inside the cylinders about 3/4 of my radiator drained inside the engine. I can see my crank just sitting in water to the top. Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Wet-Vac, soak with fresh oil, let sit for a day or so then wet-vac it out. Then have fun cleaning your wet-vac. You could use like a big toomey syringe and put a hose on it and suck it out a little at a time. Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 3, 2004 Author Report Posted December 3, 2004 The upside down thing wont work? Or to risky to have left over water and cause rust or dmg? Quote
itsaripper Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 I don't know the name of this tool but it is basicly a blower. It has a hose attached to the bottom of the front. As the air flows past the whole it sucks what ever the tube is in. It works great, and you can find them at any auto-parts store. Get all that water out and soak in any lite oil to displace the moisture and stop and rust. I have taken a rag and ran it around in front of the rod to get stuff out too. Quote
banshee04le Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 I would recommend the upside down method myself if you don't feel like splitting the cases and with it upside down, while it is draining, blow clean compressed air in to the crankcase to help dry it and drive the moisture out. Then I would give it a good flush with the premix fuel that you normally run and then drain and blow that out and then put it back together and have fun. Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 3, 2004 Author Report Posted December 3, 2004 wow................ just looked at the crank and pistons and 1 of my pistons is missing its back half lol, dont ask me how it ran but it did..... and I cant find the peice anywhere? the top is there but the side of it is gone, part of the sleeve. I dont know why its not in the engine i bet the guy that sold this to me already knew it was jacked up. Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 3, 2004 Author Report Posted December 3, 2004 Sense its all apart im just going to buy new pistons and rings any recomendations and do i need a special tool to tell what size i need? Or can i do it at home with something i might have? Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 If you have a cracked sleeve, be sure and mic the bore. Hopefully it was just a warn piston and not the bore. Either way piston slap will cause the sleeves to fatigue and break. I prefer PRO-X cast pistons because they won't wear your bore as much as forged. I would bet the pieces of that piston are in the case and you may not be able to see them. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Ya you need to completly take apart the motor and CLEAN everything. If you dont you will have stuff flying around and blow up serveral pistons and then finally tear apart your motor. Take it from me I have done that and do not want to see you waste your money and bores like I did. Quote
