Is there a difference between the Ricky Stator & let's say the Pro design timing plate other than one being cast metal & the other being billet? Oh, & the price! Someone is offering me the RS for $25 so think I'm going to grab that. Any reason why I should go with the PD billet one?

Well its a part you'll never see, its non-moving and non-load bearing. So spending all the money on a billet plate is a waste. Thats why he recommended the cast plate, its cheaper.

When the cheap ass ricky stator bolts strip out you will wish you would have got a billet one. Mine was a bitch to get out because of the bolts, and when the gap on the pickup was off I couldnt adjust it because the plate stripped out. I will never get a ricky stator one, just from personal experience. I know a couple others on here that have had the same problems with RS timing plates.

Can this simply be resolve with replacing the bolts with allen heads?

I've never gotten in there before.. Just trying to learn much possible and saving save dough at the same time.. Thanks.

That may work. I know one if the bolts on mine was fine, the plate was jacked up.
