RNBRAD Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Have we done a float height check? May be too high or low. Another possibility is a weak spark. You will need to check CDI unit, stator and coil. Make sure these things are done before you go buying another set of carbs. Quote
fixitrod Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 You have to remember that this thing runs properly if you use starting fluid. 294546 I had the same exact problem one time. It was bad gasoline. Quote
Banchetta Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I was just suggesting to borrow some for problem solving...carbs are expensive and don't have much power gains unless your ported or stroked, so I wouldn't waste your money too soon......I've got one, what kind of oil are you using and what kind of ratio?? However I kind of like these carbs if I can get them to work. I am running Castor 927 mixed at 32.5:1. Quote

The oil separates from the gas over time and starts hard since the oil is on the bottom. It might not be your problem, but its worth a try... Quote

Ido this partially to mix the gas and partially on accident because I am a big, fat bastard. I have gone through about three different tanks of gas trying to get the carbs to work. If I were to purchase other carburetors, what would you guys reccomend? Quote
Banchetta Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 W/ drag porting and all the mods you have, I'd go w/ either 33's or 35's pwk's.. Quote
Wassup350 Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Dual Carbs Stock Banshee Carbs just suck ass. I wish i could help you but everything i could think of has been said lol. Quote

I want to take a crack at those carbs!!!! Quote
Banchetta Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Have you done a leakdown test yet???? If you have an air leak especially in the lower end, then that would cause your problem.... Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Just read all your replys again...I think that when your motor is cold before your pistons have expanded and rings seal good that with a full drag race port you aren't making enough vacuum to pull the fuel. after it's warmed up, and everything is tight it starts easier for you. something to think about... a friend of mine has a cr500 that's hard to start all the time, he put a little primer bulb on it and its starts all the time now. hope you get this fixed Quote
fixitrod Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 If he has good cold compression, that shouldn't be a problem. Quote

If you have an air leak especially in the lower end, then that would cause your problem.... 301674 Yes, I had run a leakdown test. Banshetta was right when he said my choke wasn't working. I had it apart for the millionth time last nite and found a tear in the choke plunger that I must have missed before. This would have been causing an air leak with the choke on, therefore netting the no increase in fuel to the A/F mix. I'm pretty sure its fine now, I just have to jet it properly. Thanks alot for all of the help. Quote
Banchetta Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 You had me doing some serious thinking there for awhile...... Glad you found it... Quote
