I am going to purchase a new bearing carrier to go along with my new roundhousing swingarm.  Which is better, the tapered or dual-row and what is the difference between the two.

Alright, a tapered bearing, is just like a wheel bearing on your car. Well, like bearings used to be anyways. Not those chincy sealed bearing unit assembly's that are found these days on most new shit, I'm talkin about old school bearings, where you can pry the clip up, remove the nut, pull the spindle off, pull the tapered bearings out, and grease them. Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat reader, or a way to view PDF's, and CLICKY CLICKY It will show you all the different bearing types....

the taper bearings are superior in side load strength....but you loose a TON of chain adjuastment with them because the are a larger diameter than the ballbearings so it isnt worth it for that. You cant even change one tooth on the countershaft with one
