brianrides Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 just switched over from golden spectra to silkiline senthic wondering what experiences others had with this oil im mixinging 44 to one talked to the service tec at the shop and he said it might be a little to lean but the shee realy seams to run good but seams to lag a bit seamed to run beter with the golden spectra not real shure i made the right decision by switching over but have a concern about the cold winters and the oil seperation all feadback is appreacted Quote
nickxc Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 personally, I would make it a 32:1 mix. I dont know much about the oil you are using but I mix amsoil dominator at 32:1 and I switched to 50:1 cause I was told I could ant the banshee blew up about 2 weeks after the switch, im not blameing the 50:1 mix for it but needless to say oil is cheaper than parts and mine runs good with 32:1 in it so I run it like that... Wheatchex Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Personally I am running Silkolene Pro2 mixed one bottle (16 oz) to 5 gallons of premium unleaded(40:1). I've run this since the banshee was basically new. No problems so far but I am in need of a top end rebuild as I have not opened it up yet and it seems to be down slightly on power. Still have good compression and it starts pretty easily though. I wouldn't go much less than 40:1 in fact more oil would be of some benefit. We had a big discussion a while back on the merits of running more oil in the pre mix. The engine will run down at 20:1 or lower, but you have to richen the jets accordingly due to less gas being in the mix. One of the side benefits along with keeping the parts lubricated with more oil in the mix was that some had said it helps seal the rings to the cylinder and thus helps keep the compression up. I have no experience with this but it does sound reasonable. So it's ultimately up to you to decide how much oil to run. Keep an eye on your compression periodically to determine how fast or how slow it is dropping as you use your bike. Wheatchex Quote
ledofthezep Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 I've mixed Castor927 @ 40:1 since '98 and haven't had any problems. Still running stock pistons & cyl's at 150lbs compression too. Quote
jeffro189 Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 I've mixed Castor927 @ 40:1 since '98 and haven't had any problems me too, but i mix mine at 50:1 and havent had any problems Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 I'm still mixing my Amsoil at 80:1 not a single motor problem, last rebuild '96. Plan to rebuild this winter though compression is down to 120psi it was 123 when I bought it not quite two years ago. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I like klotz r50, I mix mine at 32 to 1. I personlly like the extra oil for the bearings. Quote
