I have an 87 shee with Cool Head (Not sure of the dome size yet) FMF fatty, & direct k&N filters. I am also running 290 jets.

I just got back from Dumont and I am tiered of having all of the 4 strokes beat me up the hill.

I want to make the shee run faster!! I am going to lighten the flywheel & advance the timing. I am also going to increase the compression. Any suggestions on the dome size I should get? (I will be running LL 100 Fuel) I am also thinking that I should get some porting work done. Any suggestions on who should do it? Also, any input on the next mod I should look into?

do those mods and you should have no problem. also I think 87-89 banshees had a 13 tooth front sprocket, gear up to a 14 or 15

Now, I am not saying this as fact......But with K&N clamp on filters, I would think that you should have higher main jets in your carbs. I have a K&N with the stock box and I am at 320 with toomey pipes. The clamp on filters deifnitely flow alot more air......!! Maybe your jetting is off......thats why you are slow...Does it "rev out" without seeming to pull all the way to the top??

Good luck

Just currious why 100 LL fuel. What does LL mean? If your going to buy race gas at 6 something a gallon why not 110.

I can get 100LL for $2.70 gal. @ airport LL means "LOW LEAD"

Monk,

Yes it will "rev out" and then I will shift to the next gear (4th) and the revs reduce and there is no power.

Yes, LL stands for low lead and it is about 50-60 cents more than 92 octane. You will find it at your local air port.
