jasonsb Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 I put some T5 pipes on this weekend and changed my pilots from 27.5 to 32.5 (see my bike specs below). With the 27.5 pilots, the bike was hard to start unless I had the idle way up. The choke out made no difference either. Now, the bike is still a little hard to start (4-5 fast kicks) and it idles real choppy. When I pull the choke, it bogs and dies out. I keep cleaning and checking the (new) plugs and they are wet. They are a clear color but wet. Should I try 30 pilots or can this be fixed with the air screws. Right now the air screws are 2 turns out. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 How did the plugs look with the 27.5 pilots , if they were wet with them i wouldn't put the 30's in it does sound like a problem with the pilots they will make it hard to start Quote
svtkid78 Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 That is a pretty big jump up for just some pipes, you are getting way too much fuel in there, pulling the choke out is giving even more fuel, thus stalling out your bike. You need to go back down on those. Quote
Banchetta Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I'd go to stock pilots. I jetting in a shee w/ T5's and found the stock pilots to work the best. Started up first kick every time. Make sure your carbs are synced and you dont' swap your carb bowls. (left and right) only one has a tube in the bowl w/ a jet for the choke carb...... Quote
Bansheerider29x Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 your not suppost to be more than 1 and a half turns out on the air screw Quote
sredish Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 I'd go to stock pilots. 276244[/snapback] Exactly what I was going to say. The choke should make a difference, if it's not, then your too rich. Back her off to the stock pilots and you'll be set. Quote
jasonsb Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Posted November 9, 2004 Thanks for all the good advice. I finally got the bike to run good with 27.5 pilots, 340 mains, and needle in the middle. I think I might have swithed slides last time and it was making my bike hard to start with the 27.5 the first time. Someone had mentioned one carb bowl having a tube. I think that both my carbs have the metal tube. Is this really bad? The bike was like that when I bought it used 2 years ago. I never had any problems before I ported the cylinders. Should I buy a new carb bowl or just run it like that? Quote
