Leadfoot350 Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 I took 90 thou off both sides of the magnetic pick up tonight and it went from 49.9 to 44. How are you guys getting 9 oz off? I can still bearly see the balancing holes. Should I go more or take it off from somewhere else? Quote
Holyman Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 I think they shave some off of the hub too and a little off the face of the flywheel. Do a search. I'm pretty sure these guys have posted how to do it about 600 times. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 Ok I did the search and found it and took that much off. The flywheel was 7 grams off though. The guy who balanced it said that the holes were there for a reason and that reason is probally because the crank hole is off centered. So..... after you lighten your flywheel you should check and see if it is out of balance. He took the weight off the center row which was good anyways. Quote
liszewski_88 Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Not to steal your thread but, what is the least amount of weight the flywheel can be? If it's 44oz after taking material off that's not that light. It's probably the way it's designed but, why do banshee's need that much weight? They fire every 180 degrees of the crank rotationg. But the yfz flywheel weighs 26oz with a negative flywheel. It fires every720 degrees of rotation. If you put a yf crank and flywheel then they only weigh 19oz. I'm ignorant compared to alot of people on here about banshee's but this just doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone explain this to me. thanks. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted October 21, 2004 Author Report Posted October 21, 2004 With doing a search I found out how much to take off and got it down to 40.9 oz. Thats a big difference but I agree with you about how it weighs a lot even after lightening. If you dont ever use your head lights you can get a pvl ignition which gets a whole new flywheel set up that is really light. I dont know how much but I am guessing 10-15oz. Quote
