CarlosD Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Well boys I had a bit of bad luck over the weekend. I failed to check the oil level on my Banshee before riding and sure enough its seized. When I was towing it back to camp you can hear the thing squeal so loud. I can push the kick start all the way down with my hand so theres definitely no compression. I know its a whole rebuild of bottom and top end but I dont know the extent yet. I work at a dealership so at least I can get the parts at a fair price. My question for you is should I order stock or aftermarket parts? If aftermarket what brands? And since we'll have it all apart should I mod anything? Thanks guys. Quote
Titanium Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 ...Your tranny oil? Educate me (honestly, i'm not being a jackass) as to why lack of tranny oil would seize and kill your compression Quote
CarlosD Posted September 28, 2004 Author Report Posted September 28, 2004 I honestly dont know. Im not very mechanically inclined but thats whats wrong with it and the only thing I can point to is a lack of oil unless my idiot friend rode it like crap. Quote
sredish Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 unless my idiot friend rode it like crap. hmmmm... sounds suspicious!! Quote
racer Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 i guess he could have poked a whole in the case. placed correctly that would let dirt in, oil out and trash a crank. look around to see if that may be the issue. Quote
Felonious_Monk Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 And this guy works at a dealer........... Quote
superchicken Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 did you possibly loose the air filter and suck in a bunch of dirt?that would wipe out a top end and the crank seals and hence loose all your oil if ridden like that long enough Quote
CarlosD Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 And this guy works at a dealer........... Dont be a jerk. I come here for advice not to be ridiculed. I stated already I am no mechanic so why the cheap shot? Quote

Once he opens it up I'll have a better idea of what went wrong. Quote
superchicken Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 make sure when your buddy opens it up you get in there and get your hands dirty too. YOU AND YOUR BANSHEE MUST BECOME ONE, YOUNG GRASSHOPPA the old chinese guy once said Quote
