bigred Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Can someone help me figure out this backfiring problem i have. it wouldn't idle but ran fine in mid-range and high end. I didn't get a chance to check yet but when i turned the bars one way it would idle. Also when I let off the gas it would backfire. please help me. Quote
banshee76179 Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Sounds lean.. try adjusting air screw/needle hows it on the bottom end? If bogs on the bottom try going up on ur pilots. ur plugs is the key what color r the plugs? Quote
ness Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Not sure about the backfire, but sounds like your throtel cable housing is either broken/cracked, or dosen't have enough play/misrouted (when you turn your handle bars it idels because the throtel cable is getting pulled.) Quote
bigred Posted September 24, 2004 Author Report Posted September 24, 2004 My bike only has about ten hours on it, Idont think its the carbs. Do u think it could be a timing problem? My plugs look good. thanks for getting back to me. Quote
banshee76179 Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 (edited) It's possible have u had it apart..? I would check the gap on the pick-up coil from the flywheel... that could be the problem.... let us know... Edited September 25, 2004 by banshee76179 Quote
SDD Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Ok enough with the guesses... take the pilot jets out and clean them out with a needle or small wire. After you put the carbs back together double check the air screw settings. Quote
