  1. Not sure about the backfire, but sounds like your throtel cable housing is either broken/cracked, or dosen't have enough play/misrouted (when you turn your handle bars it idels because the throtel cable is getting pulled.)
  2. I need new handle bars and want to use the Moose 1 1/8 CR-Hi bars (rise is 3.75 inch.) Will I clear my Clarke tank using the Moose 1 1/8 universal clamp kit? The clamp kit adds 11/16 inch to the bar height. The stock rise is I think 4.7 so I'm thinking this would work as the stock bars clear the tank. Dennis Kirk part number on the clamp kit is 592926, and the bar is part number 592894. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
  3. Anyone know if the Moose universal handle bar clamp kit will work on the stock Banshee steering stem. I want to use the Moose CR-high bars. The universal bar clamp is part number 592926 in the Dennis Kirk catalog. Thanks for any help.
  4. ledofthezep, ya you are probably right, but I'll have a hard time telling him that when I haven't done it to my Banshee. I think I need to ride a piped Banshee then within a few days I would need to pipe mine I suppose.
  5. It is true, but they are only going to draft you. Just making fun. If you join the Air Force I say good for you. Military service is something you will be proud of the rest of your life.
  6. I was riding with a friend last weekend and he was telling me how he was satisfied with the power of his Blaster for trail riding. So we switched bikes for a little while. When we stoped to switch back he was nolonger satisfied with the power of his Blaster and was asking what simple things he could do to get a little more power. I told him he could shave the head for a little more bottom to early mid power. I've got him sold on the idea but don't know where to get it done or how much is safe to take off and still run 92-93 octaine. His Blaster motor will be stock besides this mod. Does anyone know how much to take off and who could do it. I know a Blaster is slow and blablabla but if I get him started making modifications it will be a better machine. Thanks for any help
  7. When I bought my Banshee I had the same decission to make. Both are cool no question, but he 450 costs a lot more. After reading about all the little quirks of the Banshee (no power till the revs come on, not a great trail rig......) I still opted for the Banshee because of how unique it is. What I have found with the Banshee - stock not the best trail rig, but still more than capable of riding trails. With a few hop ups it becomes a great trail rig. I added Works front shocks and a Noss head. These add ons weren't necessary, but greatly improved trail riding abilities. By improving the suspension I can ride the trails much faster, and the Noss very noticabley improved bottom end power. Also new tires go without say. Stock tires 450 or Banshee are crap. Many people say a Banshee does not handel well - those people are wrong. A Banshee just handles differently - you can use the Banshee wheel spinning power to manuver in many trail riding situations. In the end I don't think you will be unhappy with either the 450 or Banshee, and if your like a lot of us here you either wish you could add a 450 to the collection, or are some day going to get the 450 and still keep the Banshee. Likewise if you get a 450 you will still want a Banshee.
  8. That's foot pegs I need I think I have pleanty of Perg's
  9. I'll buy them, or trade. I only have a few parts for trade - black gas tank shroud - front shock/black coil. Both are off a 04.
  10. I am going to have one of the members here lighten my flywheel. I have to order a flywheel puller, and was wondering if a +4 degree key was worth getting while I'm ordering the puller. My question, if installed properly will the degree key stay put? What are the possible negative affects of advancing the timing by 4 degrees? Last, I'm running Mr Noss' head with 21cc domes on an otherwise stock motor.
  11. Yellow plastic $150 + shipping sound like a deal?
  12. sredish, ok that helps I think I have a better understanding now. The advantage is better flow, and more fuel. So the trinity is a constant velocity carb, what is the stock carb system called?
  13. Do you by any chance still have the yellow plastic?
  14. Noss - I have one and have been happy with it. The others may be fine too, but Noss gives us a deal and the product is top notch.
  15. Thanks everyone. I'm going to look into the 33mm single, and an air filter. I looked on Trinity's web site and they briefly describe the performance of this set up. Sounds like what I'm looking for. I just have to do some more research on it because I don't understand how the performance is gained from the stock two carb set up.
  16. Hockey390, I live in Minnesota. I used to have private land to ride on, but farm was just recently sold. If I would have had 4.5 Mil I would have bought it. So now I mostly ride in State Forests where there are noise restrictions of I belive 98db, and forestry approved spark arrest. I have never even seen an enforcement officer out at the trails, but am paranoid that after driving 100 or more miles to the trail I'll get checked and will have to drive home with my dick in my hand. Most of the trails are through the woods, and it is a rare ocasion to even get into sixth gear. I do a lot of on the gas hard then off then on hard again. Kind of point and shoot, bring it back down then hammer it again so I don't need top end. I was prepared to spend around 5-6 hundred.
  17. therail, couple questions. Who makes PT mids? Would they be significantly louder than stock? Do they have spark arrester, or hush kits available? Thanks.
  18. My riding season will be over in a few months, so over the winter I'm wanting to do something to the Banshee to get a little more power. Because of trail restrictions where I live I need to keep away from aftermarket pipes. My Banshee engine is stock with the exception of a Noss head with 21cc domes. I was throughly impressed with the increased performance from the Noss head, and am looking for a modification that will offer a similar power increase without sacraficing gobs of reliability. Any sujestions?...and please remember I will need to keep the stock exhaust setup, Thanks.
  19. Normal? - if you are getting little staining on the pipe yes. Want a permanent fix? Engine Ice might help. I installed a Noss head with 21cc domes on a stock motor - problem solved no matter how hard I've ridden it no more anoying drip.
  20. I went to a dealer this last weekend and sat on both the Yamaha 450 and the Honda 450. Honda fit me better and seat was comfortable. Nothing wrong with the Yamaha 450 I'd get one, but I already have a Banshee. I like old school, and where I ride I've never seen a 450 so I get to smoke a lot of new school z400's.
  21. I think it is the throtel cable getting hung up somewhere. Could be the throtel cable housing is kinked. This will cause exactly the symptoms you are describing.
  22. I can't coment on the IMS, but I have a Clarke 5.5 and it works without needing any modification to the stock steering/bars. You do have to trim the front plastic but no big deal. I don't have any complaints with the Clarke. The IMS is probably a good tank too. Besides the advantage of being able to run long distance I think the big wonky looking tank gives the Banshee a more muscular appearance.
  23. Razar2 in the back give great traction in just about everything. The fronts look a little funny with just the three rows of knobs, but they stear very precise. They are expensive, but are also 6 ply so considering that the cost is reasonable.
  24. Thanks for all the good advice. Much of what you guys said are things I was already thinking so you have helped me to make a decission. I was taking him up north for some great trail riding this last weekend. He called Friday night to cancell because he sprained his foot. He says he did it on his bicycle, but I think he just fell down on the steps. Anyways he's history. Maybe if herecovers some time down the line our friendship will resume. I got this off my chest and am moving on so this depressing thread is over........Thanks again
  25. Pimp559 Good advice to be honest, if he can't handel it then that should tell me something. As far as money goes I think he is draining his savings between attorney fees, mortgage, and vodka. Thanks again for the advice.
