the clutch on my banshee got stuck in the engaged position, so when you change gears they dont engage. does anyone know wat could be the problem? this is my first atv and dont really know a whole lot about atv's but am ok with cars. Theres some slack in the wire that goes to the clutch, so i suspect its engaged, that an the fact the gears change but it stays in a neutral state, like when u try to accelerate in a car with the clutch in. thanks in advance,

may have welded your clutch ball & rod, get yourself a clymers & take the clutch cover off & see what's up. You may just have a blown clutch, which would be a lot better than if you've welded the ball & rod together. ;)

I think you have to split the motor to fix it you have to get that ball bearing unsiezed. I think you need a new push rod assembly and plunger arm.

Did the clutch seem to fail all at once while riding it? Did it fail while you were holding the clutch lever in while coasting at a high rate of speed? If you answer either or both of these questions with a yes, then you have most likely welded the clutch ball to the pushrod that actuates your clutch pressure plate. The fix begins with buying yourself a repair manual and reading the clutch section thoroughly. Once you feel capable of performing the disassembly yourself then start taking the right side engine cover off and digging into the clutch assy. If you don't feel comfortable with wrenching on it yourself then take it to a reputable shop. The clutch ball and pushrod are behind the pressure plate. You'll have to remove the pressure plate to gain access to them. Once off, use a telescoping magnet (looks like a pen/pointer) to retrieve the ball and pushrod out of the center of the mainshaft. You'll probably find that the ball is welded to the end of the pushrod. Replace them both with new and grease them thoroughly with moly grease upon reassembly to help prevent future welding. This info will get you started. Hope it helps....

when u get the ball out i would reccomend installing a clutch save which i would get from dennispackard cuz he still adjust like a stock one this will help the ball not to seize to the shaft anymore and also if u dont wanna purchase that u can heat the end of the shaft that makes contact with the ball red hot and drop it in a bucket of water this changes the temper of the steel and will help it not to seize as easily and also heat the ball the same way and drop it in the bucket also and when u put them back in it never hurts to put a lil greese in there

so i took it apart today after work. the ball is tuck to a screw, not the rod, and the rod is inside the port, i think what hapened was that some of the metal rom the ball jamed it in there, and now it wont come out. i have the ball out and the screw out, all that is left is that rod, the point where the clutch wire ties into the clutch is stuck too an it wont move, we tried taping it with a punchan hammer an it didnt budge. whats the next move? is there any way of geting acess to that fom the opposite side of where the clutch is an using a punch to push it out? i didnt think about trying to use a magnet, but id need one of those telescoping ones an even then i think its jamed in there. how would u guys fix it?

is your clutch cable working? i would start out with a new clutch cable then check out the push rod. you should be able to tip your engine on the side and it will slide out. even if its welded to the ball it should come out. if the rod is bent and wedged in there you will have to split your cases i think. get a clymers and it will show you how to do all of that. i didnt read anyone elses post so i dont know whats been said. peace
