banshdog Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Hey guys, got a chance to ride the banshee this weekend, first time since the NOSS head went on. The bike runs great, except for near Wide Open Throttle. At full throttle, it feels like it is missing or something. It will be winding out then at the very top, it feels like it is missing and it runs shitty. Feels like it doesnt rev out like before. NOSS head, 20cc domes. Possibly due to the fuel i was running? I usually run with 110 octane, leaded race fuel. however this was not available to me this weekend and I was running premium pump gas. could that lead to my problem? jetting? just looking for some ideas/suggestions. maybe someone has dealt with this before? thanks guys. banshdog Posted September 7, 2004 Author Report Posted September 7, 2004 (edited) Pinging? um no, dont think so. Not clutch slipping. My first thought was jetting, because it is running great all the way until full throttle, in high gears (5 and 6 for sure) I remember seeing a graph, showing what adjustments to make, depending on when the bike is acting up. If I am gonna change the jetting, what should I adjust? main jet? needle? ???? Anyone think it could be the gas? I just dont wanna do all this work, if the problem would be resolved with higher octane fuel. Edited September 7, 2004 by banshdog Quote
nickxc Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I dont think it would be the gas. I would think you would have no trouble with 20cc domes running premium pump gas... I would slap a set of larger mains in and hit her again and see if it was starving for fuel... Idk though if it was running fine before you shouldn't have to jet up for a diff. head... idk try it... sandoz43 Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I don't think it's the fuel... 110 seems overkill using 20cc domes... I have 19cc domes a run 92 pump. Sounds like jetting.. start with the needle. Are they stock carbs? Quote
banshdog Posted September 7, 2004 Author Report Posted September 7, 2004 Yeah stock carbs, 300 mains, stock needle position. Quote
nickxc Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 IDK I think I would jet up.. Check out my mods. (in my sig) and I run 370 mains with toomey needles, 4th clip down, and 35 pilots... Im a hair rich at 80 degrees and 1200 ft above see level. But when Im comming home from the bar at 2 am and its 45-50 degrees out man she just SCREAMS!! Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 If the problem is that it won't rev out as you said that would lead me to believe that your main jet is incorrect. The needle shouldn't be the problem I would do a WOT plug chop. If it is bogging then you may need to go smaller on the mains not up. If it just won't rev i'd say go larger as Nickxc said. Quote
Ducman Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I'll throw in another vote for about 2 sizes bigger on the mains. Quote

banshdog Posted September 8, 2004 Author Report Posted September 8, 2004 I'll throw in another vote for about 2 sizes bigger on the mains. Thats about where i was gonna start. Thanks for the responses, i'll post results. Quote
dlnoss Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 You probably do need more octane than premium pump with 20cc domes and advanced timing close to sea level. Jetting could be an issue also. Quote

Jetting could be an issue also. I hope the higher octane is the problem. I will fill the tank with 110, and ride it. If that does not solve the problem, then i will change the jetting. Thanks again, mike Quote
