I have been fighting with jetting this thing for the last couple of days. It has fatties with pc2 silencers and airbox lid on w/o snorkle. It will only run right with a 20 pilot, needle on 4th clip and 290 main. I can get it to run good with a 25 or 27.5 pilot until the motor gets up to temperature then it just sputters on the low end and some into the mid range unless I have the 20 pilot in. Can someone please help me to get this thing running.

First of all a 20 pilot seems way too small and a 290 main might be too big for the stock air box and lid on. Try bumping down to about a 260 and putting the needle clip in the center spot and see what it does. Keep an eye on the plug color for the main jet.

I have tried every main I could think of. It bogs on the top end with a 320 so I worked my way down and ended up with the 290. I tries the stock needle position and the5th clip. I also tried a 27.5, 25 and the 20 pilot which was in the shee when I got it. I wonder if it would help to try to go back up on the pilot and lean the needle somemore. It has a bad sputter with any other pilot than the 20 right before it gets on the pipe.

My fatties always liked a lean pilot to needle circuit too. I never ran a 20 though. Just the stock 25 with the needle one lean from stock. Maybe it has something to do with the lid. Do you have the snorkel on too. If so, can that at least.

fresh gas?choke nob pushed all the way in(hey it happens).also i had this happen to me before, where the spark plug cap presses on the the spark plug, the aliminium part that threads on to it loosend up on me and i got a sputter in the low end.

I have new plugs, fresh gas, and the choke is off. I was wondering how to tell if it might be time for reeds ? I want to also add that it runs great until it gets up to temperature. Thats when it starts to sputter before it gets on the pipe

You have other problems. Your jetting should be very close w/ a 290, 25 pilot...sounds to me that it might be your tors acting up...try disconnecting the little black box above your left exhaust and disconnect the parking brake switch...also make sure your slides are in the right carbs....cutaway facing the air box. then check to see if your choke tube is in place between the 2 carbs.
