watkins Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Ok, I will be getting an '05 Banshee in about 2 weeks and think I have figured out what Mods I want for the riding I am going to be doing (want some more low end). Here is what I think I need so far: FMF Fattys FMF Q Silencer K&N Filter Trinity 2in1 35mm Carb What tires should I get for dirt, and what should I get for sand? What sizes and brands... Any other ideas? Are the mods I listed worth it? Quote
bansheeboy2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 in the sand id get 8 paddles haluers with some douglas .125 wheels and some hauler mowak fronts on .125 also Id get some v-force reeds also they help with low end and better throttle response id get a dune port also plus what you have listed and it will be good through the dunes plus go up the hills pretty good also Quote
CombatTalon2 Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Do the timing advance mod, and also look into getting a Cool Head! Raise the compression a bit for a little more punch! Quote
watkins Posted August 23, 2004 Author Report Posted August 23, 2004 well just wanted to start off kind of slow with some basic mods.. the carb will probably give me enough trouble ( i am mechanically challenged ), so i don't think I will put new heads on it until next season. However, the nicest mod I will put on... get ready for this..... temperature gauge Quote
watkins Posted August 23, 2004 Author Report Posted August 23, 2004 Also.. just to make sure.. i assume that the '05 will be the same as all previous years right? Because on rmatv they only list like tires for the '05... but if i go a year prior is shows me everything Quote
decon Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 (edited) in the sand id get 8 paddles haluers with some douglas .125 wheels and some hauler mowak fronts on .125 .125 is to light, that grade of aluminum is for drag racing. get some .160 douglas, they are a good grade for dunes. btw watkins, dont get a 05 man, its gonna be red stickered. look for a used banshee that is from 2002 and older, they are green stickers. u want to be able to ride all year. 03-05 banshees are red stickered. Any other ideas? Are the mods I listed worth it? I have the same pipes and carb setup, although I'm running PowerCore II Silencers. That setup works extremely well together, it's almost as if the pipes were designed around that single carb setup. You'll have awesome mid and really good top end for duning, plus in the tight stuff you'll have enough low to actually lug it around trees if need be. Once your all setup, a coolhead, or Noss head, is another great addition. It will add some extra punch and wake your motor up some, plus help flow the coolant. Shoot for 150 lbs. of compression. The mods are endless, loads of cheap mods as well. You can mod your stator plate to achieve +4 degrees of timing for free and that helps a little. It's also a good idea to replace your water pump impeller with a billet Pro Design one, you can pick one up for under $40 off of Ebay and replace it easy. It will cool better and the stocker has been known to break, or even melt if you overheat it. While we're on cooling, replace all your coolant with Engine Ice for a drop of about 50 degrees. Handlebars, gotta get some more comfortable ones, the stockers are crap. Steering Stabilzers are also good things to have, for around 100 bucks, they'll keep your arms loose. For Sand: Douglas .160's and ITP Sand Stars are great sand tires. For Dirt: Use the stock rims or Douglas .190's and Maxxis Razr rears with Razr2 Fronts, great handling setup. Quote

Yeah I know about the silly red stickers.. kind of irritates me.. however, I would like something brand spankin new (just my preference) that way I know exactly what I am getting into and can mod the hell out of it.
