mxbanshee5 Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Can anyone tell me why my 87 banshee sounds like it runs alittle slower. Like when I set it aside a late model banshee it seems to run alot more faster, more poppy, and mines sound alot less poppy. Even when I got it rebuilt it still sounded slow. Can anyone please tell me whats wrong with my ride. Quote
Indubitably Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Umm maybe jetting you may be running a little fat whats ur mods? Do you have new spark plugs in it? As dumb as that sounds it has happened. Quote
hamuel Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 I hear they did changes in the cdi in like 95 so that could be it. or you got your idle set lower. All shee's are different they all like them touched/tuned a little different Quote
2banshees Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 different pipes and silencers.. that pop you hear is the compression escaping from the cylinders. more pop means theres more compression. but the pipes will sound different. the packing in the silencers will make it sound different. Quote
MotulMonsta Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 You should hear my old 87 mill purr...I'll be next to other mugs on their newer shee's and their bikes sound weak compared to mine. All in the pipes. Maybe your old pipes are just a bit clogged up..jetting could be off..cdi could be weak..there are a number of issues that have to be looked at..It's all about time and money. How much time do you want to spend and how much cash you want to burn. Quote
mxbanshee5 Posted July 19, 2004 Author Report Posted July 19, 2004 my mods are ptr mid pipes, GP 2to1 carb setup, 50 over wiseco prolites, milled head, stock reeds, k&n filter. THe jetting is dead on to where its not too lean or not to rich. I check the plugs and they are brown. And still, it sound slow. I've also here it was the cdi, thats why they sell different ones for 87-89 and 90-04 Quote
MotulMonsta Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Naa, all you have to do is change the plug ends and all the year model cdi's will fit right up. The cdi's are pretty much the same throughout the years. Quote
