redneck1381 Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Howdy Ya'll, I just bought myself an 01' shee. though I'm good with my truck engine's I'm still getting used to 2 strokes. Any way I just bought my bike, the guy I bought it from said it had a new top end. However when I got it home it didn't have any power and had a miss in the one cylinder. After a compression check I only had about 115 psi of compression. I gambled that my reeds were bad and installed a New set of Vforce 2 reeds, this lifted my compression to about 130 psi. However, I still have that miss. I am not sure what could be causing it. I replaced my spark plugs and the right one was fouled. I am not sure if I missing spark and causing it to load up or what. does anyone have any ideas on where to start or what to check first? If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated. Thanks. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 if it had a new topend, the compression would be lower, and once u started breaking it in and riding it more it would raise. the reeds might of been bad, but vforce's rock so good luck with em. the fouling of the plugs means you have to rejet, which is what would happen when u got rid of stock reeds for vforce. broke Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Compression only goes up as the rings start to seat. Once it's broke in, it won't go anywhere but down. That would really depend on how new the top end is. I have never had reeds go bad, but if the compression went up with the new reeds, I would say you found your problem. When I have changed reeds, the only jetting that I ever had to do was to change my needle height. It may require slightly different jetting, but it should be minor. When you do a plug chop does the plug foul right away, or after you ride it around a while? Do a plug chop and start with jetting. You may have other problems, but get it jetted right first(if you can). broke Quote
