DUNCAN24 Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 I JUST DID A COMPLETE REBUILT ON ME BANSHEE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. EVERYTHING WENT REALLY WELL EXCEPT I HAVE AN AIR BUBBLE IN MY FUEL LINES. I HAVE RE-ROUTED THEM ABOUT 6 TIMES THINKING THAT MY ROUTING WAS INCORRECT, ONLY TO MOVE THE AIR BUBBLE TO A DIFFERNT PLACE. THESE ARE BRAN NEW 28MM CARBS BORED OVER TO 30MM AND WHEN THE BOWLS ARE FULL OF FUEL IT RUNS GREAT I JUST CAN'T GET A CONSISTANT AMOUNT OF FUEL THOUGH THE MOTOR FOR ANY LONG OR SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. ANY SUGGESTIONS I'M ALL EARS AND OUT OF IDEAS!!! I SHOULD ALSO ADD THAT IF I TAKE THE FUEL LINES AND DISCONNECT THEM FROM THE CARBS, THEN TURN ON THE PETCOCK VALVE(WHICH IS ALSO NEW) THERE IS NO AIR BUBBLE AND I HAVE GREAT FLOW. I ALSO HAVE TAKEN OFF THE BOWLS FROM THE CARBS AND TURNED THE VALVE AND IT DOES FLOW BUT THE AIR BUBBLE IS STILL THERE. IF I AM DOING 1/4-1/2 THROTTLE THE FUEL FLOW SEEMS TO BE ENOUGH BUT AS SOON AS I GO WFO I LOSE THE FUEL TO 1 CYLINDER AND THE FUEL LINE TO THE RIGHT CARB IS EMPTY AND THE FUEL TO THE LEFT CARB IS FULL.( THE RIGHT FUEL LINE IS LONGER THAN THE LEFT LINE) Quote
nater006 Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 The one experience I had with a bubble and consistent lack of fuel flow to carbs was when my gas cap vent got plugged. I assumed that it tried to suck air back into the tank due to the vacuum it had created, through the carbs, since it couldn't through the tank vent. May or may not be the correct diagnosis, but unplugging it fixed mine on my old Tecate4. Quote
DUNCAN24 Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Posted June 28, 2004 EVEN WITH THE GAS CAP OFF I STILL GET THE AIR BUBBLE. Quote
hamuel Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 is that with the bike just sitting there?? have you gone out and rode it? THen checked for the bubbles when yah get back to camp?? I found that with my fuel lines when i first turn on the fuel it leaves some bubbles near the Y. then after about 5-10mins on the woop road it's gone Quote
Justintoxicated Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 well, does it really matter if it does not affect performance?? I mean I don't have clear fuel lines for mine so I would never know if there was a bubble there or not anyways.... Quote
DUNCAN24 Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Posted June 28, 2004 IT ACTUALLY DOES AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE. IT WILL RUN OUT OF GAS TO THE RIGHT CARB. THIS AIR BUBBLE IS ANYWHERE FROM 1/2"-1 1/2" LONG. Quote
DUNCAN24 Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Posted June 28, 2004 WHEN THE BIKE IS JUST SITTING THERE I CAN MAKE THE AIR BUBBLE VERY SMALL BUT AFTER RIDING DOWN A VERY LONG STREET BY MY HOUSE IT WILL RUN OUT OF GAS TO THE RIGHT CARB. Quote
hamuel Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 check your float level in that carb it could be set wronn. But i could be wrong Quote
sredish Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 what about your fuel petcock being clogged. the fuel above holds the clog in but holds the air bubble in the fuel line and not allow it to escape the hose. just an idea, i don't really know if it would work like that, but the air bubble should go on up into the tank and to the top. I'm trying to figure out what's keeping it in the hose. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 (edited) I checked my petcock after 4+ years there was all this plastic shit floating around in my tank and I have no idea what from, it was like clear plastic crap so it can't hurt to check...My guess is it was there since the beginning....A little sand in there also... I said screw this and cut the screen out compleatly and replaced with a nice paper fuel filter.... Also the Caps lock is fucking annoying as hell so please don't use it. DUNCAN24 Posted June 29, 2004 Author Report Posted June 29, 2004 I HAVE HECKED THE FLOAT IN THE CARBS AREADY AND THEY SEEM TO BE FINE. I HAVE ALSO SWAPED THE CARBS FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER AND STILL HAVR THE SAME PROB ON THE RIGHT SIDE. DURING THE REBUILD I REPLACED THE PETCOCK AND COMPLETLY FLUSHED AND CLEANED THE TANK, SO THERE SHOULDN'T BE DEBRIS. IF I REMOVE THE FUEL LINES FROM THE CARBS AND TURN ON THE FUEL, THE FUEL COMES OUT GREAT WITH OUT ANY BUBBLES. Quote

DUNCAN24 Posted June 29, 2004 Author Report Posted June 29, 2004 I THINK THAT YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH THAT ONE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE STUMPED MYSELF AS WELL AS EVERYONE AROUND ME WITH SOMETHING THAT APPEARS SO SIMPLE. I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO FIGURE THIS OUT. IT IS PROPABLY SOMETHING SO SIMPLE AND OBVIOUS. MAYBE I SHOULD START OVER AT THE BEGAINING. Quote
