hey guys my 96 shee at times acts like it has no power bands at times whats up with that? and oneside stays really cool unless you get on the highway and go like for a mile or so then it starts to get warm what is my problem?....im going to check the reeds now....let me know what yea think...thanks butch

I think you should get the yellow power bands. They are a little tighter than the stock blue and should give you some serious power benefits.... Either that, or clean the carb(s). Check the compression. New plugs?

Did you guys read the part where he says on side stays cooler than the other. He clearly needs the pink power band on the side that stays cool and a yellow for the other side. Just call up your local dealership and they should have them in stock.

I've heard good things about the pink bands also. I have not run them, but all that have, have had great reviews. I've you go with aftermarket pink bands you can get them matched perfect and staggered special. good luck

I think he meant to say the power bands for the cooler valves.

If you haven't changed the cooler valve oil in a while, they will get stuck and then the cooler valve power band will get stretched out because the cooler valve isn't turning. Even if you loosen the cooler valve it won't work right because the band has been over stretched.

I have heard that some guys will do some crazy stuff if they're in a rce and the cooler valve bands get stretched out.

First they pull the bike back onto the rear grab bar and take the pipes loose from the engine. There are a couple springs and a 10mm {usually} bolt that holds the pipe to the engine and the frame. Pop those loose and spray some carb cleaner directly into the cylinder. Some guys will also look at the sides of the pistons for scratches and I've heard of other guys using a mirror to look into the jug at the piston crown and head dome for pits or scratches. If there are pits or scratches, the power band has broken and you need a new top end. DO NOT ride it if it is pitted or scratched. If that's OK, they put the pipes back on. Usually only takes a couple minutes once you get used to doing it.

Then {and here's the crazy part} they open the radiator cap and smear some Preparation H on the inside of the radiator fill hole.

The guy I heard this from swears that if you don't use too much, the Prep H will tighten up the cooler valve power bands enough to finish a race. He said you squirt out about as much as it takes to go from the last knuckle on your middle finger to the end of your finger and then rub it in the hole not on the cap. His reasoning is that because the power bands are rubbery and constantly wet like a human intestine the Prep H gets in there and tightens it right up.

So to help you remember...

Flip her on her back

Expose the pipe

Look inside

If it's OK

Lube up your finger and rub it on the hole.

Shee should be ready to ride.
