H300F Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I can't get my banshee to run clean from 3/4 to wo. I have tried 160, 170, and 180 mains in my Keihins. Its just about the same every time, it studders and won't rev out. And when starting it will start for 2secs and then stall, after about the 4th try it starts up, sounds like it will die, and then revs up to where it idles and runs. After trying those jets it would not start, only fire for 2secs. Does a stator throw a problem like this, or is a stator either not working or working properly? How about a coil? I have a 1 year old Dyna CDI on. I am thinking about buying a coil off ebay and starting there. The stator was replaced by the previous owner, but with a used unit, and he had to splice the plugs so that says it was a 94 and down one since my quad is a 95. I am wondering if that stator bit the dust? thanks for any help, this is an on going problem and I can't get it figured out. I thought it was the jetting but I think going from 160 to 180 is enough to rule that out. Also with stock carbs a few months back my banshee ran clean as a whistle. Now with the stock carbs I was getting bad studdering on the top. So how can it possibly be my jetting if using the same once before? Quote
nater006 Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 My 200w Rickystator stator did that exact thing -- except it was from about 2/3 throttle onward (right when it starts getting fun!). Just went BLAAAAAHHHh and cut out, and randomly pop or backfire. Turned out it was the stator -- but being the cool folks that they are, its getting replaced for free. Moral of the story is that stators can do that exact thing. Case in point, above. As for troubleshooting and finding which it is, I'd just check the resistance and make sure its within spec and go from there. Quote
H300F Posted May 3, 2004 Author Report Posted May 3, 2004 OK thanks. I have on and off power. It studders really bad. Its not a continuous bog like its lean, its like a rich bog. I did have 2 backfires at the end of trying all the jets. But thanks Im going to check into that. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I had about the same problem happen to me every now and then until one day no spark so I ordered the Ricky Stator stator and no problems since. I had your problem the guy before me had cut and spliced the harness so I also ordered a new one from www.powersportspro.com for like $80 that way I didn't have to splice in the new stator and eliminated possible problems from connections.
