I need some suggestions on figureing out the problem with my bike. A couple days ago I jump on my bike and drove itarround to the back of my house to wash it. After washing it I decided to clean the air filter and noticed that there was some dirt in my carbs. So I decided to clean them also. After I finished everything, I put it back together and tried to start it up. Just my luck, it didn't start so I proceeded to check the fuel lines to see if I missed something or if I disconnected something by accedent(No trouble found). So I then went to check for spark and didn't get anything. So I changed the spark plugs and clean all the contacts and still no spark. I dissassembled the bike and traced all the wires back to that CDI?? box thing in the back. No problems found. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what my problem might be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Coil? ;)

agreed, make sure the wire on the coil didnt fall off there are two of them actually .. once i kicked my bike for hours checking and looking , it turned out to be the wire looked like it was on but it was loose not making contact .

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions.

I checked the wire's on the coil and they are fine. I clean all the contacts and check the wireing to the coil for any breaks(No trouble found).

I do have a couple of more questions...

1.) How do I check to see if my coil is good?

2.) Could the problem be with my stator?

The reason why I ask the second questions was I read up on other post with same problem and someone suggested the stator. So I took mine apart and noticed that there was alot of dust and oxidation. I clean all the contacts that was visible and tried to see if that made any difference with my spark. I pulled spark plugs and cranked it over and what do you know I got some spark. I went a head and put my bike back together and tried to kick it and no luck getting it started. I pulled plugs agin and found there was no spark. This is driving me bananas so I am at a stand still. Which direction should I go stator or coil? Also what should the gap be in the stator? Does it make a difference? I pulled it apart to clean contact and I may not have put it back exactly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The only way you can check the coil is a continuity(spelling?) check. Try this, unplug the little black box by the radiator, and see if it has spark, I'm guessing you still have the TOR's.,

Ok Thank you guys for your suggestions.

Got more info on my latest trouble shooting.

I swap out the coil and the cdi box with my freinds that I started and drove arround for 20 minutesand I still don't get any spark. Now I would belive that would eliminate the coil and the cdi box as part of my trouble shooting. Which leaves me with the stator. How do I check to see if my stator is good? I have a 2003 banshee with about 25hrs of riding on it. It's hard for me to belive that the stator may have gone out. Please anyone...I need help. This is driving my crazy and not riding for the past 2 weeks is driving me more crazy.

Does anyone know what the gap is between the flywheel and the pickup?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

Are you saying that you took your coil and cdi off of your shee and put it on your buddys shee and were able to crank his and ride around for 20 min???? And then put it back on yours and still no spark :(

2 things.....First disconnect the tors like bansha60 already suggested. Those are common to fail and mess w/ you spark. Takes 30 secondes to disconnect it...Little black box above the left exhaust....It has 3-wire plug, box is about 1.5" long...Next disconnect the parking brake switch by following the wire towards the gas tank to a connector, disconnect that.....

If this doesn't solve it, then check the stator. Can't remember the ohm readings, but call Ricky stator, he'll tell you or someone will chime in.....I think its the tors though..

Hey thanks for your guys help. :D

Answer to you question cdcoxwell is yes I took my cdi and coil and put it on my freinds bike and drove arround on it. I also took his and tried it on my bike but had no luck. :angry:banghead

I'm glad to see I finally got some advise from Banchetta. But I disconnected the tors system when I first got the bike.

I've come to the conclusion that it 's got to be the stator. I'll take your advise Banchetta and give Ricky Stator a call.

Thanks :)

Just wanted to say thanks for everyones help.

I figuered out the problem. It was my ignition switch. Just a bad connection inside. I got rid of the son of a bitch. :flush:

Anyways, Thanks :)
