Hockey390 Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 (edited) as you will see, my wiring harness is really messed up. I took all the electrical tape off that the previous owner had applied, and I am going to clean everything up, and solder wires that arent connected well.. etc.. I just installed a TORS removal kit, so i'm sure some of this crap can go.. I also have a twist throttle if that matters. What can go? What must be connected SOLID so i have no more loss of spark sorry for the HUGE picture but I feel it makes it easier to tell me.. also you will notice my left pipe rubbing on the head.. Any ways to fix?? Edited April 24, 2004 by Hockey390 Quote
Hockey390 Posted April 24, 2004 Author Report Posted April 24, 2004 i dont need anything sorted, it all runs and works, i just wanted to know if i can get rid of anything Quote
BrokeStonedBiker Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 there was someone on here selling a complete electrical system for like $100 i thin it was. you mightt just want to get a new one. but yeah that little black tors box shoule be the first one in the trash can. then the wirs comming from the throttle cable you can snipe and follow them down and cut them out of the harness. then i think there are some from the parking brake that you can follow down and cut them off. then you can get some flux cable to cover that whole mess up. Hockey390 Posted April 24, 2004 Author Report Posted April 24, 2004 would the TORS box be the lil black one by the top left hole for the gas tank? Just want to make sure before I pull it Quote

Hockey390 Posted April 24, 2004 Author Report Posted April 24, 2004 do i just disconnect the box by unplugging it? or can i cut all of the wires back that go to it? I believe the 2 wires I would be cutting would be... one going to the thumb throttle (which i have twist) and the other going to the kill switch? My question is just can I follow those and cut them where they start? or will that cause me to lose spark.. Quote
DIRTBIKEZ Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 The black/yellow wires associated with the throttle switch, TORS control unit and carb swithes can be removed. reas11 was nice enough to post the schematic. That should give you a better idea. Quote
BrokeStonedBiker Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 the ones going to the on off kill switch, im pretty sure you dont want to touch them. just take all the tape off up the the air box on all that mess of wires and im sure with some common sence you will just see where there running to and witch ones can be snipped back to their splices. Hockey390 Posted April 24, 2004 Author Report Posted April 24, 2004 (edited) Yah, its messy but figuring out what goes where isnt the problem, i just want to know what I can get rid of. so is it a good idea to just keep the 3 wires connected to the plug that goes to the TORS instead of snipping? Id rather have too much wire then not enough I will post a picture when I get it all cleaned up, just cause thats pretty messy! sort of a before and after.. Edited April 24, 2004 by Hockey390 Quote
