I just reinstalled my shaved head and a new head gasket and Im getting a gurgalling sound when I run it kinda hard and then shut it off. I never noticed it before. Its kinda like a clunking sound in the radiator.

Yea dude, you might have created a lean condition man. When i did mine I had to jet up a few sizes. Sounds like your radiator fluid is boiling, cracked head gaskett as someone mentioned.

Ive done a couple plug checks and everything looks good its a medium chocolate color on the insulator. The first thing I thought was head gasket too. My head was done buy a banshee performance shop that has proven its self to me so I dont think I have a piston clearance problem. I might get another head gasket and try it I just put one on maybe its bad.

Probaly air in the cooling system try to purje it remove the radiator cap while it is running to release the trapped air check the over flow make sure it has collant in it

pull the head and look for any coolant leaking on the gasket. I had to reuse orings on my coolhead once and was leaking coolant a little bit (not noticeable out the pipes or anything), and it was pressurizing the coolant. It'll gurgle just for a couple seconds, stop, and do one last gurgle thing right?

It's either boiling cause its hot, or its being pressurized.

my bike does this too. i did a plug chop and it looks good. i flushed out my radiator and checked to see if the water impeller was broke. it all checked good. i am running t-5s with 2:1 filter with stock internal and head. running a 280 main and 25 pilot. needle in in the fourth position from top. dont know what else to check.

Ill try and purge the system first and see if that works. If I pull my head I will have to put on a new head gasket anyway so if thats the problem Ill know.

it maybe time to throw on some in line coolers or a bigger radiator to keep it cool, the fins on ur radiator arent all bent outta shape are they

before you go pulling the head ...

i Know they make them for cars but should work on this also its called a head gasket tester

they sell two types one you add a chemical to a buld extract some collant and if there are exoust particals present it will register a different color meaning a head gasket leak.

is a pressure tester that presurises the collant system and if the pressure drops you have a leak and can search around and find it

HUM... I pulled the radiator cap and let it run a couple min. filled up the res bottle but Im still gettin the gurgaling sound. I really think it might be a head gasket. I just put a new one on and I bet it was defective because other than the shaved head and lightened flywheel thats all ive done to it since ive had the noise.

is there a cheaper place to buy a head gasket than a yamaha dealer??? $21.95

If you can wait for monday or tuesday I can send you one for the price of shipping. It should only be a couple cents. I have a coolhead and my top end gasket kit came with one I didnt need. Pull the head off while your at it and look on the gasket for any type of discoloration coming from the coolant passages into the cylinder, or out to the outside of the engine or studs. (chances are it will be to the cylinder), make sure you back off your cylinder nuts from 10 to 1, it will help from chancing warping the head. Send me a PM with your address
