Basicorpse Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 On my 2001 banshee if I grab the top of the wheel I am able to move it back and forth slightly. The hub is nice and tight and so are the wheel nuts. I think I may be some kind of bushing but Im not sure what to replace. Quote
banshee04le Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Sounds like your a-arm bushings. Watch for slop at the a-arms on the frame through bolts while you move the wheel. Quote
Basicorpse Posted April 16, 2004 Author Report Posted April 16, 2004 Yea thats what I intially thought but I wasnt sure. How hard are they to replace? Quote
pimp559 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Not hard at all. Just do one side at a time. Do the top by pulling out the pivot bolt ( make sure shee is on jack stands). Once the pivot bolt is out pull out the bushing and replace with the new one. Do same on the bottom but put the top back together first. Take the shock off before you do anything first though. Make sure you do both sides. Also put some grease on the inside and outside of the bushings before you install them. Quote
Holyman Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 If it's the bushings, send me an email and I'll hook you up with bearings instead. Bearings are the best way to go. I give BHQ members a $15 discount from my ebay prices... [email protected] Quote

The test you described is the best way to test for a loose ball joint. Make a mark on your a arm pivot and frame then do this test. You will be able to see if the a arm is moving or the ball joint is moving based on if the marker mark is mis aligned or not. Quote
BenBB Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Very well could be a ball joint also as Stan said, I just had to replace one of my lowers due to a torn ball joint boot. If you can get it on a centerstand it's alot easier to locate the problem. Good luck. Quote
